Lens cap replacement for 150

A friend borrowed the HMC and brought it back without the lens cap. I'm having difficulty locationg it. Any websites? He's going to cover it and I sufficiently made fun of him so it's all good.

I'm thinking you'll have to contact Panasonic. I've only owned Canon cameras previously and I know you can order parts from them. Being how new this camera is, I would guess only Panasonic would carry that ridiculous lens cap. Someone here made a reference to a tupperware lid and I can't think of anything closer to the truth.

Man, it would suck having to PAY for another one of those. On the other hand, this one does seem to do the job better than the DVX (esp if you use filters), just a much bigger pain jamming it in a pocket. First one to produce a decent replacement is going to take a lot of orders.

yeah. when will panasonic implement a mechanical lens cap.. automatic or not, it would be very convenient

I heard if you buy a new panasonic ag-hmc150, it comes with a free lens cap that you can use to cover your existing hmc.

I saw that when searching for a replacement. Barry had a great article about this.. and this looks like a great run and gun kind of set-up.

As for the missing lens cap,My buddy ended up finding it.. but I might buy a coverlens as I like buying toys and this looks like a lens diaper... puns abound with that notion.

I personally like just a simple lens cap. A mechanical kind is more moving parts with more chance of failure... but again, on my SD9 it's a really great feature cause if theres a failure it would be trash time
instead of a costly repair.

maybe I'll try and replace the 170 with my 150.... perform a little slight of hand long enough grab it, then to flip it, pocket some cash and then buy another 150.

+1 on the Coverlens as well. I had it on my XHA1 and now use it with my 150. The lens hood of the 150 is a little larger than the XHA1's stock lens hood, but it fits. I lost the female clip that attaches to the camera's hand strap, allowing you to connect the Coverlens to when the camera is in use, preventing it from being misplaced. The customer service at Coverlens is top notch and they're sending me another female clip.

Any standard stills camera 72mm cap will work; common, cheap—around $3. hth, KL

It would but you would need to remove the lens hood each time to take it on and off. The lens cap slides into the lens hood on the 150 not onto the lens like the dvx.
