Thanks man.

Vegas Pro 9a
Main Concept H.264
Best Quality
1280x720
Progressive
16Mbps
24p (23.97) because it was shot 60p and slowed to 40% for overcranking.

No tricks really.

The 150 is good a low light, but man it looks great with tons of light. haha

Very good Brad. That was a good exercise in camera angles.

I was once an avid skateboarder. My 11 yr old son has taken over the reigns now.

Thanks Tom. Yeah it's a hard pill to swallow with regards to (a) not having anybody (in ones own mind) that's willing to film you to your expectations, and (b) getting old in age! haha

Basically I got what I wanted out of the day. I had the skatepark to myself and the sun was brilliant. It beat me down a little bit but it was worth it. I wish I would have gotten more tricks that I know I can do, but I was getting exhausted. haha The different angles and perspectives was the best I could do at filming myself and not making it look like it.

I love learning more and more about this cam and what it can produce. I'm still blown away at times.

I hope to pass the reigns along as well. My son will be 3 in September and he LOVES skateboarding already. Completely unprompted by me. I don't believe in pushing anything on children. It's awesome to see.

Take care.

Very nice...

What were your project settings for the 60p footage?

Thanks man.

From top to bottom.....

HDV 720-24p
Progressive (obviously)
23.97fps
8-bit
Best rendering quality
Gaussian blur
Blend fields
Adjust source media to better match project was left checked

All native .mts files were rendered out to Sony YUV 60p (uncompressed) intermediates using proxy stream scripting. Those files were then dropped into the 24p timeline where each clip was slowed to 40%, creating the really slow and smooth overcranked effect. Some crossfades and pans thrown in for some effect.

Everything was then rendered out as MainConcept AVC H.264, 16Mbps, Best quality, 720p, and 23.97fps.

If I left anything out, let me know.

Brad...I'm must be dense today...but I can't make it happen.

I have some 720 60p clips transcoded by cineform neoscene, still 60p.
And I am working with VegasPro 8.0c.

When you say, "drop them into a 24p time line" are you saying to put the 60p clips on the time line and set the project properties to 24p? And then render to 24p?
And how do you slow them down 40%, with a velocity envelope?

I've reread your post many times and tried many things, but cannot get the results you're getting....
What am I missing?

Call me confused,

Working on a tutorial right now. DON'T laugh at me. I've never done one before. haha Be up soon.

I don't even know if I did this right or explained it well. This is my first time. Keep in mind that the preview playback quality in my Vegas that you see is NOT actual framerate. HyperCam 2 wasn't keeping up. I get full framrate with preview-half and its smooth and clean.

"And that's it. Thanks for watching."

Outstanding! First, but I hope not your last.

My questions have been answered and I will be trying this tomorrow.

Thanks!!

And cheers!!!

Man, I know how that feels like. Countless times I went off with just my tripod. But I'm also trying to educate my girlfriend to do it, she's getting better.

And don't forget to explain how you did the panning all by yourself.:Drogar-Evil(DBG):

Awww c'mon now....I can't give away ALL my secrets. I've known about the method for a while, but I just tried it out this time. For using a static shot.....I think panning is great. Makes it feel like there is someone behind the camera. It's really not that hard to figure out.

You're giving me a hard time, haha. So it's just you and the tripod, right?

So it was done in post? I would have never figured that out, it simply looked too sharp for image magnification.

That is one of my favorite things about working in HD....
If the end product is for the web or SD DVD, you can crop/pan without losing any significant quality.
