LMAO. I loved the ending. We all chuckled.
Ok so the acting wasnt brilliant and the sound was a bit muffly - but this has to be one of the most fun films this fest. Just made me giggle. I loved how it all started as an accident and then he just went for it. I liked the devliery of the long haired guy 'WFT' at the end, that made it funny and it was almost like the Pastor's decision to smack him one was fueled by his blasphemy.
Personally I didnt think the coda added much, I would have ended it with the sawing sound, but this was the last film I watched and left me with a smile on my face.

Richard J. Johnson - I agree about the neck. We had it planned and I had the in camera effects in place, we just ran out of time. I had to shoot out Mike (the job foreman) b/c he had work, so I had to make some 'sacrifices' so to speak. Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it.
Lawriejaffa - Your entry haunts me. I agree with the technical stuff. I put this together last minute with story inception to production in 7 days. I did an outline and 2 drafts and called it good. In fact we struggled with an ending which was our last shot of the day. I think I may just write next fest as I'm a writer first and foremost.
Susanne G - I like feedback, that's what this is for. My post dvx version of my WestFest entry, Kinship, is so much better because it ran the DVX gauntlet. Lambs will be the same. I see what you're saying with the box cutter, I was frame shaving to save time.
Charli - It does get a little slasher in places. I can see what your saying if given a superficial glance. There is some religious subtext going on here. (David slays Goliath. Sin - greed, sloth, wrath. Was the pastor a vessel of God?) Even taking the religious subtext out, this is a story about what is right and what is wrong...and the Pastor's internal struggle with himself. His intentions were good, he was just weak minded. He put God, his church and his congregation first. An accidental death would cause controversy. He could've totally stopped after he stuck the box cutter in the guys neck. But one thing led to another as it unfolded and by the time he got to Emo Coffee Kid, "In for a penny, in for a pound".
Nouou - I appreciate the kudos. The sound, yeah I'm not sure what is up. The version I exported sounds fine, not sure if it got compressed in the upload but the sound is junk when streaming. In regards to , "Most of my interest was lost when the pastor killed the coffee kid." I hear you. I had to cut a scene due to time during production. In the script after he gives the last rights to Mike the foreman, he prays to God and begs forgiveness for his sins and will walk the righteous path from here forward, that's when coffee kid interrupts him. I'll have to post the original script when this is over. Not sure about feature yet, not quite ready for prime time.
Matt Harris - Poo, it's not meant to be 4:3. I edited the majority of this in a hotel room at night. I was on the road last week. I only had time to export and post once then get on a plane. So I must've not set the aspect ratio correctly. I like your theory on why the suitcase glows.

MAH - I'm a little torn on the Church exterior ending. I like the bit of closure from the other ending, it alludes to what's in the case. Thanks for the feedback and vote of confidence.
Elsmama - "WTF", yes Zach did a phenomenal job. He took direction really well. He got too stoner on me with some of his deliveries and adjusted well. That's my favorite part too!

I did enjoy this film. It really took me awhile to figure out what was going on and what was going to happen, which is a good thing. I thought everything was good, but I didn't get how the Pastor all of a sudden went left and then after all that happens comes back in the church with the case. Other than that I thought it was a really good and unpredictable story.

I like how accident to accident to murder develops naturally and that reaction of the kid at the end is an excellent way to end it. Nice entry, had me laughing in a good way.
Even the pious have their price, eh? I like how the tone of this went from lighthearted to (pun intended) deadly serious. Made for a fun ride.
How did you record your audio? Boom mic or on camera mic? The room really echoed for me making it hard to understand people at times. Getting the mic in closer next time could help with that.
Overall, good job. Hope your bring your sensibilities to a fest in the future!

This is definitely a comedy. I laughed for a good 10mins after watching this. The priest a holy person accidentally kills one of the workers then murders the other two to cover it up. The saw sounds after killing them was hilarious, the film should have ended there. When he opens the suitcase at the end and the crazy light happens I am left wondering why that didn't happen when they first opened it. The composition of most of the shots were not that great but I did in particular enjoy the composition of the shot under the crawl space. Good acting and good location. If you were going for suspense then you need to draw out the priests realization that he needs to kill these people to keep it and show us his realization, not make the first murder an accident and have the kid come back when everything is cleaned up so there is more suspense to build up. Liked the homage to Fargo with the hammer murder near the end. A good enjoyable comedy. Look forward to seeing more of your work.
