Diary of a Crazy Filmmaker:
1 October - Let's shoot something for fun...how's next Saturday sound? (Crazy)
4 October - I have a rough draft, I think I just barfed on a sheet of paper and called it a 1st draft.
5 October - I have a 2nd draft...let's call it a final draft b/c we're shooting Saturday like crazy people.
6 October - We locked the location, hey I got 3 of the 4 actors we need.
7 October - Umm, no lead actor yet everyone is busy b/c there's a football game on Saturday. Well DP or Director, who's going to act? Coin flip.
8 October - Yay we got a lead actor!
9 October - What were we thinking. We have something in the can.
15 October - Roughcut looks promising. 7 Days of pre-production, insanity.

Thanks everyone, less than a week and I have another important project to edit. Gotta love last minute.

Great Job Mobie. I thought the acting was good and there were some funny lines in there. when the long haired kid came in and saw what saw, he delivered that perfectly. Editing worked for me too. I thought the cut on his neck could have been a little more believable. but it didn't take me out of it. Great job. I won't even ask about the case because I'm sure you won't tell me.:Drogar-Shock(DBG):

First off, aren't crawl spaces creepy. I mean he could totally dig a hole and hide all the bodies down there. Take it from me, it's way easy.....:) Nice work!

This film i have a soft spot for - it had me giggling along - and i found it thoroughly entertaining. Sure the production/technical stuff can be improved in your future films, but the amusing set up and performances were well (great in places a little b-movie in others) but it all felt acceptable. Tightening this film would do it no harm however, and i would consider cutting the actual ending where the pastor speaks to the congregation. It seems to work well enough prior to that! Well done :)

I like the story of the film. The three actors died nearly by chance - this was very entertaining and amusing. But when the main actor at the beginning came in the church and opened the box he brought, unfortunatly he didn't push the blade out of the cutter, what seemed to me a lack of work on the detail. Actually it is only a critic on detail and I nonetheless enjoyed this film.

Much luck

This didn't do it for me as a 'thriller' but more of a slasher type film. No motive, all by accident, just one death led to another led to another. That didn't take a tremendous amount of forethought into a storyline. Too convenient. It was okay, maybe for a horror fest, but not this one.

Neither did your one and a half minute production of a Christopher Walken impression..

This short was great in my opinion. Your opening was completely objective and unstylized which made it more interesting to me. There seemed to be unsettling feelings between characters from the start, like you knew something was gonna happen but had no idea what. There felt to be a serious undertone in the dialogue. I can't put my finger on it. The entire situation of the workers finding a suitcase full of (something valuable) at their job site, conflicted by a well known man bound to morals, is a great idea. You could play around with that and turn it into a feature somehow I bet. A couple of problems I had were the sound. I kept having to turn my speakers up, then down, then up... that could be fixed though. Most of my interest was lost when the pastor killed the coffee kid. I realize it was to save his own ass but it makes this completely interesting situation that could turn out to be something wonderful into a B style slasher... which made me a sad face :(

I think this short could make a great opening for a feature film.

I had fun with this, this was just bat sh#t crazy.
Am i right in assuming that the suitcase glows at the end because the minister "sacrificed" the others to obtain it?
Or, was the suitcase left over from a previous minister and hidden in the basement?
Can you shed light with backstory or is it meant to be ambiguous?
The film showed up as 4:3 squished instead of 16:9 letterbox, just an fyi.
I love the "jersey" guy with the blue collar accent, he was fun. and the coffee boy came back and delivered a great line "Dude what the F__K?"
i had a chuckle at that, good line delivery.
Whether intentional or not, the film came off as sort of grindhouse/exploitation - good stuff!

Really enjoyed the way this played out. I love how he wanted to do the right thing but after the second accidental death he knew what he had to do and just went with it.
I would also close it with the wide of the exterior church and the table saw audio. The kids reaction was awesome! LOL! Loved it.

If you refine some of the technical stuff you'll be knocking them out of the park. And when that worker started wailing on him, I bought it.

Nice entry.
