Just want to know how many people here use Native 24p.

@ Lpowell: Is there a low enough bitrate where 24p will not cause these errors? Say ~20-25 Mbs?

I value reliability too and would trade higher bitrates for good/reliable 24p.

lpowell, you said gop of 2 was highly unreliable, can you please explain from what aspect are talking about? is it camera mostly stop recording error , thanks

Not even the unhacked 17Mbps AVCHD bitrate was free of the encoder malfunctions that can occur with Native 24p.
I've experienced FHD movie recording write speed errors with my unhacked GH1 and a Sandisk Extreme Class 10 SDHC card on real-life natural scenes. So I'd rephrase that as, "Not even the unhacked GH1 is free of AVCHD encoder malfunction."

once and for all (actual research may be needed), can anyone confirm that the camera's internal buffer may be more at fault for these errors than the damn cards? seriously. the "i use this card and it's fine, i use another card, not fine." doesn't seem like it's much the card's fault, but the gh1's guts struggling to keep up. and to me, it's fine if it has to struggle as long as i get clean images. i love that it doesn't heat up.

sofar, Vitaliy, lpowell, and PappasArts have found quirks in PTool to minimize all this, but there will always be someone asking these questions. And people (not me) are going out and spending $100's for fast/fancy cards, probably for no good reason. Seems like, even with the hack, the hardware can only do so much. Blaming the card might not be the answer? I ask.

Chris, at least for me, going from class 4 to class 10 did allow me to increase the values of the settings to get higher bit rate with out having to have a write speed error
