dewd. sugarcult have a new video on the iTunes store. I was wondering if it was shot in the same hospital set that you mentioned. Check it out if you haven't seen it already.

Anyway, by the looks of things your video will blow doors on theirs. The only things I like about theirs are the song itself & the performance shots cut in there. There's some nice cinematography, but I don't know if messing it up so much really enhances the video. Oh, and then they have a hottie in her underwear. That's always good.

BLUESPIDER- thats SHO-NUFF! no relation to bruce lee by the way. everyone thinks im asian cause of my last name, but in fact, im just a white man...wudrugonnado? ::)

Hyperbolic- the vignetting was done in post. the latest edit has lips, but from a different angle...so its a little harder to tell..anyway, i think the new edit is better.

bodaphoto- thanks man. the laser disc will be out mid july 2009

jasonk- i just saw the sugarcult video in itunes...when i first saw it i was like DOH! i should upload some of my origninal storyboards, the angles they shot inthe hallway are exactly what i had planned. but didnt go through with it cause i wasnt necesesary. funny to see that video though. have you seen team america? the scene when gary gets the surgery? so funny, its them crackin fun at this type of stuff. i wonder what the budget was on that sugarcult vid? an no, that definitly wasnt the same joint i shot at. i think they shot that in london maybe...

Hey (again), Rich--

You mentioned that you love the Century .7 lens and used it here. I assume, then, that you couldn't also go with the anamorphic lens -- is that the case? If so, what made you decide against going anamorphic? Did you simply "squeeze" it instead?

i used the anamorphic lens for the opening shot and the doctors office. i do really like the results from the ana. but i just didnt have the time to fuss with it for the rest of the shoot. i needed to get shots fast, and to be fussin around with settings and light to get the ana to work just didnt seem like the right thing to do for this one.

i did not use squeeze mode either. i like having the freedom of recomposing the shot later. so having the extra meat on the top and bottom was nice. especialy for vfx shots where i need to make fake pans and add cg stuff. also, it let me shoot a little faster because i knew i could just recompose some things later...so i didnt have to worry about headroom so much...i mean, i did, but i wasnt freaking about it.

I'm in West Palm Beach Florida but if you are interested in being my DP it would be a real start. The Film it's a romantic comedy though is ment to look pretty and colorful I hope thats not boring to you! I want a beautiful look like that movie Amelie and I think you can do it. I can't pay much my budget is only 50K for the hole thing and 50K for the transfer and some prints but I will be going straight to theatres I'm not going for the film fest crap! they just want to take advantage of the new comers I swear it's like a black hole full of sharks! I'm doing self distribution and already have some theatres that will wacth the film and if they like it is a go. But first I have to make the film only there aren't many people who really know how to use the DVX well. I just want you to know that I've snagged a copy of your rough draft. I trot it out, along with Matt McDermitt's work, and Disjecta's, for inspiration. When I'm sobbing into my beer at the end of a long day doing a video, and it isn't meeting my expectations, I watch your video, as well as the works of these other DVXUSER titans, and suddenly the World is new again.

Hyperbolic/speedbump- glad you guys like it so much. i must say, everytime i hear that someone finds my work inspirational i get a big smile! its just great to hear that people are getting more then just eye candy out of it, that it might even motivate and push people to do other things. know what i mean? its an unexpected byproduct i guess...thanks guys, glad i could help out! ;D

Rich: I'm at an Interent Cafe so I can't let it run overnight :-( I did however see some of your work when I visited the states last month. Some beautiful stuff. I shot some video of a Festival here in Thailand last week (posted here) and thought about your festival footage while shooting it. You had some great night shots. What settings do you use for night-time shots?

Can't wait to see some stills (and skills) or maybe a low-res version (sorry, is that a bad word here?).
