just showed up via fedex. ordered it on the 31st. nice packaging, reusable fedex box with foam. came with ac cable and a remote. i was under the impression it came with a camera shoe mount but i guess it doesnt.

i shot some footage last night and was just checking it out, playing back on the monitor. sorry for the crappy pics, from my cell.

for $425 i think its def a good deal. colors look good out of the box, much better than camera lcd.

i popped the 150 into camera mode and was checking focus and such with it. looks very reliable for adapter focusing and such.

It does look like a good deal!

Michael, is the monitor pretty light? And how are you powering your monitor?
I bought a Samsung panel from them before and built my own, and I love the thing. But it seems like mLCD has started to put our some pro-looking equipment.

its actually very light, 1.8 lbs.

i was powering it via the included ac adapter. for portability i'll be powering with a bescor battery pack or a tekkeon battery.

and as far as the look, i feel its very professional looking. i'd have no problem using this as a client monitor.

Good news! They are located here in Orlando. I'm going over to see them soon and will pick one up. How are you going to power it?

Mangler get an HDMI cable and connect it then report back to us,

i've got an hdmi at home, but i'll prolly stop and grab one at a computer store on the way home. i'm sure it will be sweet.

Just curious about the HDMI, where would that be useful? (I'm sure it is) I mean, you can't really hook it up to the camera using HDMI, right?

So how do you rate the overall image and is there a narrow or liberal viewing angle? I will be seeing one. I just wonder if I'll be leaving with one..

cheers

I reckon a Benq E2200HD like the one I got would do a heaps better job (off a stand that is) than the small 8.9".

It's only $170US or so, 22inches, with all the inputs/outputs I need. Better, when I get down to the edit stage it's a good 3rd monitor.
Ah, the power adapter is integrated too.

No offence to the Manhatten company, they should be selling these small screens for no more than $50US.

I'm getting sick of companies that claim 'specialties' and charge like royalties for things that are worth a fraction. Take the Litepanels for example, their LP-Micro build quality is no match to a rugged garage style 60LED torch (you might argue with me on the quality of the LED's though) sold at 1/12th the price (and it includes rechargeable batteries and a charger).

Oh well. What a world we live in.

Couple more points:
- Congrats to the OP on the purchase
- Running HDMI is much better cos it includes the audio channels all in one neat cable.

Edy.. wow those are some bold and rather obtuse statements. First of all, I like BenQ, but they are bargain basement electronics so I'm sure it's not that great of a monitor to begin with...

2nd.. It's NOT probably any better scaling quality than the manhattan LCD.. and probably much worse in its color representation and everything else. Probably similar to my Dell 2405...

3rd. Try and mount your 22 inch monitor on a small stand and in the field... or just carry that around in a camerabag. That would be pretty rediculous indeed... and NOT be what this whole thread is about. If you also have a problem with the price of this monitor then you really haven't been in this biz too long... or you might want to check out the Panny line or Marshall for some really expensive models...

you can go to walmart and get a 22 inch poloroid that's cool as a tv monitor, but NOT good as a run and gun field monitor.. I'ts just not designed for that.. and neither is your BenQ... The manhattan one looks great for the price and does have quite a lot of what most of us are looking for at such a reasonable price...

I think the Manhattan people are doing something right.... at a fraction of the cost of other field monitors.. and loooks a lot better built than the ikan monitor.. I certainly will report from my visit. I need to finish up an edit first and then I'm going to check it out. At this price... might be hard to resist...
