Is it wrong to say

My take is if you cant say anything good or constructive dont say anything at all and dont watch the videos. At least they are out shooting and having fun.

This is by far the most useless post ever produced on this forum. Thanks for the contribution.

I think the question has some value.

I see a lot of skate boarding videos here as well, and a bunch of wedding videos.

Would most agree that at least here, many 150 users are involved in these two activities?

There's at least two using em for scripted/documentary work (me and my friend, who bought one after using mine). So there! Two of us!

There does seem to be alot of skate/wedding videos here. While that certainly isn't a bad thing, it would be interesting to see more narratives and documentaries shot on the 150.

I agree a lot of people are shoot skate videos and I must admit that I am guilty myself. However for me I think its because that's what got me into film and video in the first place and although I have done many commercials and films both feature and short narratives, I still shoot skate a bmx videos simply because it is fun to do and push's me to get more creative both in my shooting style and in post and helps me to learn a lot more than I would If i stuck to one type of video.

With that said seeing as how this forum has been one of my best learning tools I think its great that people post their skate vids. It just shows that people are playing around with their gear and learning from it!

I think this camera/forum needs more music video's. I have watched I think all of the music videos in the screen grabs/footage forum some even twice. Also I would like to see some more short films/features.

on a whole different topic, anyone have some recommendations on a good 3 point light package, does not necessarily have to be a kit, to use for documentaries, commercials, short films and music videos. mostly documentaries and music videos. price range between $800 - 1300

:dankk2:
Ninos

i got into filming due to skateboard/bmx videos. now i've got a couple of scripts under my belt and tons of ideas constantly running through my head. we all have to start somewhere, right? and damn anyone trying to stop that.

Well now I gotta add to this silly topic:

HMC150 narrative directing class: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsM4uK82bqA

and I'm also working on documentary: http://vimeo.com/3751378
(the trailer is on DVX100 but we are now shooting with my HMC150)
(by the way, any other HMC150 shooters, or HVX or HPX for that matter, want to help contribute to this documentary, specifically NYC, because we can't afford to fly around since we're still trying to fundraise?) (sorry if my post is inappropriate, but I'm not shooting skate videos, but they're still cool.)

then dont watch them....I know I put in just as much effort into them as anyone would...who cares what we do with them? hell, i could go out and shoot flowers and paint drying if i want to....it doesnt really matter to anyone...and it shouldnt matter to you. im still in awe that you actually made a thread to say this...

I think some people are taking this topic way too seriously. I think the OP was just making an offhand remark, hoping it would spark some discussion, which I guess it did.

I don't think he meant skateboarding videos are dumb or anything, but there's just alot of them on the footage section. Fair enough right? Let's put down the pitchforks.

agreed, but either way...i dont think you or anyone for that matter would be saying the same thing if i were to start a thread saying:

is it wrong to say.....

im sick of these music videos being posted?

its not like the skate videos being posted are crap...i havent seen a bad one yet....

all in all i think this thread is pointless and was really a poor attempt at a discussion topic.

How would be know a good one from a bad one. :)

Seriously, the question could have been phrased better, but I was more interested in what people were mostly using the 150 to shoot.

Seems that skateboarding is pretty prominent.

Don't see that as much with the 170.

Personally I think that might have something to do with the cost and available time on the media. SD vs P2. For me a bmx video consist of a lot of time shoot in a day, Sometimes I need even 2 or 3 days worth of shooting with a rider to get enough footage to fill a few minutes. So it really isn't affordable to run around with a pocket full of P2 cards when I could simply use 1 or 2 small SD cards.

you said it....exactly why i chose the HMC over the hvx.....

I say keep em coming. I try to watch most of the videos that get posted here. Some are obviously of more interest than others to me, but I enjoy seeing what people are doing with the HMC. I often see things that inspire me, even in skate or wedding videos, techniques or shots that I find interesting. If I see something in the title that warns me that its not for me, I simply avoid it.

So keep em coming......
