C100: Iphone 5S will shoots 120fps@720, but my $6000 "Cinema" camera does not....

(No dead horses were harmed during this post)

I disagree.

I Fxxxing believe 60i + Twixtor works and looks better than Iphone 5s 120fps

but again, F you Canon ! this is monopoly

lmao.

seriously though, i don't think it's about how it looks, it's just the elephant in the room, the one thats screaming yes, they could have make it so.., so why didn't you make it so. and the answer was obvious, they wanted to keep their product lines relative. that, or they had a **** ton of digic dv 3 chips lying around.

canon advertised these cameras as cutting edge, which yes they are in several ways, but as a whole, they take a back seat to average joe consumer products and their dang nifty features. either way it's a moot point, it does what it does and i've got a full day of shooting with mine tomorrow, and then again on monday, with jewfest in between.

Yeah it does what's important to me very well.
Yeah, like make incredibly sharp detailed wide DR wonderful images in all possibilities of light without a bead of sweat. More than half of the "consumer joe" products, do they have built in ND, XLR, peaking, recordable 422 out, waveform, headphone out, dual slot recording, and a log gamma? I wouldn't give up those tools for 240fps in a consumer joe camera. I tired of watching 2 seconds of real life in 45 secs anyway. 95% of what we watch is natural real life motion. SLo mo is the new shallow DOF 5dmk2 crutch to creative filmmaking. And like what has been proven over and over and over, shoot 60i on the C100 and drop it into a 24p timeline. What do you get? Really decent slow motion. I can't wait for all the 8 stops DR footage from the Iphone! I'm so excited! NOT!

I'm actually really looking forward to 120 fps on my new iPhone. But that has absolutely nothing to do with what I'm doing with my cinema camera.

And I certainly won't burden anyone else with the questionable artistic quality of my kids in slow motion. But THEY will love it.

Boom. Hit the nail on the head with this one. People want it just to want it. Would it make the camera a little better? Would it make it a TON better? Not really. 60i slow mo honestly looks really, really good. Its hard to tell the difference. Clients certainly won't. Yes, its one or two more steps in FCP X, but if you seriously need every clip to be in slow mo to effectively shoot something, you had better evaluate your creative descisions ;)

Have to disagree. On fast movement there's a huge difference in 60i vs 120p. And clients will notice the difference. Try to slow down on a 24p timeline a golf swing with a club speed of +100mph...
If I had to shoot that and I owned a C100 (which I do), I would rent a Phantom or an Epic for the day. Moving along....

You could buy multiple iPhones for the price of renting a Phantom or Epic. Add to that, with the Phantom or Epic you can't even make phone calls, check your e-mail, or browse the Internet. These camera companies are getting away with some serious omissions.
