I am looking for a shoulder rig & also some type of slider for my Canon T2i. I am wondering what reviews people would give indisystem because they seem affordable. Which models should I buy? Also will the slider attach to a Davis & Sanford tripod?

I own a pair of carbon rails from them, and they are good. I got really quick shipping.

however I have read alot about slow shipping on some things (like over 30 days) from them. its my understanding that its a one guy shoppe so emails and communication is sometimes difficult.

but my experience with them was great and very fast.

I would call them and verbally make sure when he can ship what youre looking for to you if you're in any kind of hurry.

Search here for the Igus slider or zaza slider. You can buy the parts direct from Igus and get the exact length of slider you want. Buy a 3/8 16 tap and tap the ends for stops (there's info on the zaza thread for that). I think I paid less that $200 for a 46" slider - heck, finding a great case for the thing was the hardest part ($75 from Alzo of all places...)

Keep in mind that to do the slider right, you want to get you tripod head mounted to the slider carriage. If you're using a 75 or 100mm ball tripod, you want a 2nd ball mount (like $27 - to attach the slider rail to your tripod) and the Manfrotto bowl-to-flat adapter ($89ish, to stick your head on the slider). Swapping this all out takes 2 minutes, but what you get (besides a slider) is a camera platform; Tap some threads in the plate and you can bolt it on plywood for low shots, or bolt it to a ceiling. Really, really cool.

Can you post some pics of your setup?

Thanks

Here's a couple I posted in earlier threads, slider bolted to the ceiling for straight-down & spinning shots - screwed a 2x4 to the ceiling, and bolted the slider to it. I was able to reach over the set wall and do spins and slides; there are two laundry line pulleys and rope to get the camera to the side of the set wall for focusing, adjusting, etc. An assistant would pull it back to center after I hit "record", and the ropes worked great for sliding.

Shot was a sort of "guy in a cell" where I built a 4' x 4' room - we clamped the front wall in after the talent was inside. There was also an LCD clamped to the outside of the set wall - I stood on a ladder and watched the monitor.

Final footage - there are also shots of a girl in bed and on an exam table where I used the slider on a ceiling or munted overhead - great way to get a camera looking "straight down":

I have their ultra compact shoulder rig.. and I have to say.. it's quite heavy. After a few hours of shooting, you really feel it in your arms and shoulders. Now I really see the benefit of those other shoulder rigs that has the handle coming all the way down close to your hips, it will really help with a long day of shooting.
Besides that, I think it's a very good built rig. I wouldn't use it every single time, but for the price it's a nice weapon to have.
Tim was pretty helpful if you can ever get a hold of him. The girl doesn't know anything when she answers the phone. Just ask for Tim..and he really takes the time to explain it. He even shipped my rig out in 2 days when I told him I needed it for a shoot.

Do any other companies offer "sliders"?

Brandon,
At almost that price there is also the German Kamera-Slider. Here is their site.

(Just in case I did not proceed in the right way when inserting it, the site's URL is:

Here is a brochure in English (http://www.com-videoshop.de/downloads/kameraslidersystemenglishshop.pdf). It's really fluid. I bought from them their smaller one (it was hard to bring a longer one into my case back to Argentina without folding it...:cheesy:). I use it with a Manfrotto 501PL plate underneath the rail, so I can quickly slip it on or release it from the tripod. For the top side of the rail I bought a Velbon tripod head with great results.

Hope this is useful.
Ana.
