IMPORTANT: Server and software upgrade

Perhaps I missed it, but how do I mark threads as having been read? In the past there was a button on the top menu bar to Mark All Read, meaning that even if you had not actually read a thread you weren't interested and could tag them as read so that they would not show up in New Posts the next time you logged on. And I can't recall if it was an automatic feature or if I had programmed it, but I had it set so that when I logged out of the forum it considered everything posted up to that point as Marked Read. That way when logging back on and clicking New Posts it would show me only what had posted since the last time I'd visited the forum.

This was a great way to use the forum and I'd really like to get back to it. As it is I have to wade through many, many threads I'm not interested in to find the ones I am. And I can't tell if there's anything new in some of them or if they're just lingering.

There is a Mark This Channel Read link at the bottom of each forum/subforum I believe.

Not certain if it does what you want, but it's there

Bingo! That's the solution. It really should be up at the top and available as part of New Posts as well, but at least it works. Thanks!

Yeah, while I agree with you it is the preferred location, it is not a simple "within admin formatting" change, it would be a pretty significant hack.

I hope the person or persons behind the revamp faced negative repercussion for what imo was utter failure. Or were they tasked with killing the site off?

We’ve made it clear: the mods/admins were not “tasked with killing the site off”, nor do any of us want to see it fail. Why do you insist on perpetuating this lie?

As for the changes to the site, server and forum software age, and eventually become obsolete to the point of forcing an update. We’re now on https, which is important to note. Previously, we were not. Yes, the update caused some issues, but please stop insisting that this was some ridiculous conspiracy.

Definitely support you guys over there. The last US producer I worked for set a call time for 5am on our last day and we shot until 5pm no break. He still wanted to do more but I shut it down. Not another shot until we've taken the appropriate break. Initially he tried to bully and laughed it off but I said something along the lines of, no mate, thats it, not doing another thing and sat down. He then complied.

all pretty good now.

'whats new' used to work well and to me be the default homepage

'new posts' seems to run pretty behind the posts that are actually new only updating every few days.

Need to be logged out for it to work correctly. Log out and click 'Today's Posts' and you'll see instant realtime updates.

I just did side-by-side comparison of logged off / TODAY'S POSTS and logged in / NEW POSTS, and saw no difference in most recent posts. Likely a caching issue somewhere...

No caching issue; it's how the update works.

In this very rare occurrence (and coincidentally when you checked), there actually is no difference between them this time because of the activity in the posts, but once traffic is up and lots of posts are being made, it's all mixed up.

It's something I complained about since day 1 (and others noticed as well like Sam on the last page most recently), but I'm already used to keeping two browsers open so I personally don't care anymore - but it's broken, for sure.

It's mostly the same 15 people posting on this site so no one really cares or notices anymore.

For the first time since the upgrade I have been able to access dvxuser on my laptop!!! Though I am not in the office.....

Wow! something has changed.... I can now log in from the office! No idea what. Last week I couldn't now I can :-)
For some reason since the update I could not get DVXuser up on any browser on a PC or a mac. Now I can. AFAIK nothing has changed on the router/switch
