IBC footage...

Ive been lucky enough to see the RED footage at 4k, pipped out of the sony 4k projector.. and you guys have no idea what your in for.

this isn't the "wow that's good looking video!" kinda thing..

this is the " #$@#$ " speechless kinda thing.

Bragging rights i can handle, but teasing rights are so painful.:(

Jarrad you are just as bad as Jim Jannard when it comes to teasing:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

As a practical matter, I think of 4k as wildly impractical for the foreseeable future. When I get the RED I intend to use it as a variable-frame-rate 1080p camcorder with noiseless imagery, see-in-the-dark sensitivity and Super35 depth of field. I'm hoping RED is listening and has included 1080p 4:4:4 mode; in that configuration it should be brilliant. 4K? Nice for bragging rights, I guess... same with 2k... but as for the daily workhorse, a variable-frame-rate 1080p with S35 DOF would be solid gold.

Yup. This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for too. And this is exactly how I'll utilize RED next year.

Rent out the Kodak Theater in LA to show off RED's capabilities. (but that might set you back a couple hundred bucks)

I bet that would attract alot of industry workers, and perhaps could sell a few people to RED.

Ditto.

1080p 4:4:4 (I am making scifi which is always VFX heavy) with on-the-fly variable framerate and S35 DoF will do me quite nicely until I shoot a feature, at which point I will make full use of the 4K imager for archival purposes (probably use proxy for editing, waiting to see what Red has up its sleeve at IBC).
