I need a vacation.......

Seriously. Been working non-stop for the past 8 years. Taking it's toll. Fuse getting short, lack of patience. Telling potential clients exactly my mind (not good in the long run).

Advice? Recommendations? Mental Hospitals to choose from?

Dude, if I don't find a pressure relief valve soon, I will become Capt. Stubing, but with a twist never envisioned on the "Love Boat". Problems with the guests, no problem. There is a pack of ravenous wolves in Cabin 1235, just open the f'ing door. Problem solved.

Go to the airport assign a number from 1 to 12 to each flight that is going to an interesting place throw two dice and pick the flight that has that number.......

Hmmm... guy with massive arsenal of weapons is about to go off the deep end. Where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, on the news about once every 10 days or two weeks.

Though unless you roll a zero on one die, you're probably not going to end up with the one with a 1 by it.

I feel you. I haven't had a vacation worthy of the name in about seven years.

After I finish up on this location show - three months to go - I promised my wife we're taking a proper vacation, probably Venice+Florence+Rome or maybe the Amalfi coast. Hopefully the Euro will still be in the crapper, coincident with our trip...

I find that taking the rifles out for a day of shooting up around Mojave can help me unwind. For you that would probably be too much like work.

Hahaha true.....This shows how little I play with dice.... anyway, then assign the 1 to the only part of the world that you don't want to visit....

After working nonstop, I find the best solace to be achieved by getting away from technology and people. For me, this means hiking through the woods in a national park for a few days, but using that as a jump off point I might suggest the following;

•Go find a cabin by a lake that's not to far from a general store so that you can get beer and other essentials, but not anywhere near the city
•No laptop, unless it's for watching movies (some cabins will have dvd players)
•Leave the cell phone off, and in the car for emergencies only.
•Get a couple good books and a hammock.
•Cut yourself off from everything everyone. Don't think about it.

I'm so addicted to my work and emails and phone calls that this is the only way I can completely decompress and relax. It can be hard to disconnect, but it's totally worth it.

I can only suggest specific places like this that I have been to, which would be mostly places in northern Michigan, including Wilderness State Park, the Porcupine Mts. and Presque Ile, and there are many inland lakes that have cabins in the woods for just that sort of thing.

Low stress vaca, zone out and relax. If you can easily handle the logistics and potential hassle of booking an actual trip, go somewhere like in those corona commercials :)

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a really nice place to get in some serious hiking and bonding with Mother Nature.

There are some very nice, very affordable, and very quiet places to stay that are:
- only 15 minutes from the Knoxville airport
- within 2 miles of the park entrance
- NOT on the touristy side of the park boundaries (Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge but are close enough to access them if you really want to go there. Dollywood has some great roller coasters. Seriously.

Aside from where and how, the biggest thing is when. It really takes concerted effort to block out a week on your calendar and, no matter what comes up, schedule absolutely nothing else in that time.

Well, you are in Cali...home of the best road trip possibilities in the country. I mean, load up your car and just get the F out of Dodge. Wine Country, Vegas, San Diego, Big Bear, PCH, San Fran, etc. etc. etc. Throw in the movie Sideways, get inspired then go up to the Paso Robles trail and drink your way through it.
