I hate VD!

Valentines Day, of course.

I'm racking my brain for ideas for my wife, and I can't think of anything. What are some creative things you've done for your significant other?

Thanks for clarifying. I was about to suggest penicillin.

I DP'd a feature a few years ago called Valentine's Day. When it premiered I had written in big letters on the calendar in our office "VD Screening!"

It got people talking.

But I lucked out with my wife. No interest in flowers, and little more in chocolate or jewelry. She likes office supplies, movies, film gear and organizational tools. Last year I gave her a bouquet of multi-colored sharpies for breaking down scripts. This year things are tight so I may just put a bow on the teleprompter we just bought....

For God's sake whatever you do, do NOT hire twin prostitutes from Tijuana. I dunno about your wife, but my girl had a VERY narrow interpretation of "romance."

...I had mine served divorce papers...haven't looked back since!
(cold, I know, but it got the message across)

My wife and I don't fall into the trap.

We ignore that day all together and the hype that surrounds it.
What I do is surprise my wife in February with a special night out just for the two of us.
Just not on the 14th.

No overpriced chocolates, flowers, or crowded restaurants for us on that day.
We tend to sit back at home and just watch a movie on Valentine's Day.

That way it's a surprise for her and the moment doesn't seem as forced or expected.

Thats a very good idea, my girlfriend works that night anyways so i will probably end up doing the same thing.

Rented a theater at Raliegh, rented a print of 'Star Wars,' took her out to dinner, then to a private us-only screening (she'd mentioned that she hadn't seen 'Star Wars' in a very long time).

since its a Saturday, you could do what I did years ago: made her breakfast in bed, everything was red, strawberries, cranberry juice, red jam (be creative), plus the single long stemmed red rose.

you still gotta buy the jewelry, tho.

taking my girl to see Star Wars would go over about as well as buying her a vacuum. You, sir, landed a winner...

We pretty much ignore Valentine's Day, too. However, we're going to go see My Bloody Valentine 3D tonight. It's about as sappy as we get. She's a horror movie fiend, so I lucked out, as well.

My wife loves Valentine's Day. She booked a $150.00 per person dinner at some crazy place in DC, Hired a baby sitter, etc. etc. I hate the day, It costs me too much money.

One thing I can recommend as a gift though, is a full day at the spa. I did last year and it cost me around $250.00 and She was gone ALLLLL DAAAAAY and I edited in absolute peace.

Reminds me of a comedian. He said:

"My wife and I had home spa day for Valentines Day. It started with her giving me a massage and ended with me giving her a facial."

edit: Como, go ask your parents.

But will they take the kids too? If the kids are home, it's pointless.
