HVX200 Delivery Dates

The camera rates right about 320 ISO acording to a waveform monitor and Grey card test under even tungston lighting. The DVX rates at about 500, so 2/3 of a stop difference. The HVX is infact slightly faster than the Z1.

On EVS list it is over 200. I got on in December and I'm 200 on the dot... So i'm sure it's a lot higher than that.

If my math is right then the Z1 is 1-1/2 stops less sensitive than DVX and the HVX is 2 stops less sensitive than the Z1 then that makes the HVX 3-1/2 stops less sensitive than the DVX??? That can't be right!
It's not right at all. The HVX is a stop faster than the Z1, and a stop slower than the DVX.

The DVX in progressive mode is generally ISO 640. The HVX is 320. The Z1 is 160.

Shooting the exact same gray card, and calibrating exposure to deliver the same IRE level, the HVX at 5.6 delivered the same brightness as the Z1 at F4.

The HVX does take a minor hit when in interlaced (or 720/60p) mode; it loses about 1/4 stop of sensitivity. Even so, it's 3/4 stop faster than a Z1 when comparing interlaced to interlaced, and a full stop faster when comparing progressive against Sony.

I ordered in early Nov and mine is in the next shipment which WILL be sent by the end of the month. Meaning I should have it in my hands the first week of Feb. I have heard from several different sources that right now they are shipping most of the orders placed in Oct and beginning of Nov. Word passed on to me from my dealers rep is that they hope to have orders placed before Thanksgiving delivered by the middle of Feb. Which would put Dec orders around end of Feb beginning of March.

Which NW store, may I ask? (PM is fine)

And yes, what NW store took delivery of 3 HVX's on tuesday?

Not sure about ethics of posting the name but if you search for a Panasonic dealer in the NW, it's the one in Portland. To clarify, 3 came in...3 went out. They are backed up on waiting lists too. Not a three digit waiting list but a decent size waiting list none-the-less. Sorry if that came off as a ray of hope. :(

On the positive side, they do have one on their floor for demo. Professional audio/video stores are generally lacking in the NW, outside Vancouver that is...lucky Canuck bastards

I was told I'm first on the list at Henry's in Toronto out of 16 people. Called today and they're telling me "sometime in February."

Good grief... Although, I know that the EVS list is a "me too!" type of list and I'm sure that a lot of people on it won't actually buy the camera when their number comes up.

I'm on the EVS list too just because I can be and it will save me a bit over buying locally. But I'm hoping that one of my local dealers that I've been talking to will get an HVX soon. This dealer placed an order with Panasonic a while back when they were first able to and I think they ordered 10 or 12 of them. I'm #4 on their list and they have yet to receive any.

I wasn't in the office today, I was doing a shoot, but when I get in tomorrow I will check if any came in. Tuesday, none had come in. Panny had said "sometime this week" so we will see tomorrow.... :undecided

On another note, I have always encouraged everyone, since day one, to not put a payment down with us in case their local dealer gets one first. That's why we created the list to begin with, to guarantee a place in line for everyone who wants a place.

I am actually hoping some people find them at their local dealers, so that the list can move up a bit. I would love to see #100 move up to #50. Woohoo!

But it's true, since we never required any deposits to begin with, many customers will not come through with the orders, just by law of probability.

Anyone willing to give up a low spot for me? No? Man....

Panny needs to Rush deliver to Haakon before he goes nuts.

I'm a lot more nuts that Premiere Pro doesn't natively support this cam!!!!

What will I do with the footage when I get it - DOH!

*I ain't paying 1000 bucks for Canopus software only*

Raylight requires conversion - which I don't want to do (defeats the workflow of p2).

I'll probably just have to wait until a good 3rd party supports an easy to run codec. *sigh*

A small NW Panasonic retailer just received 3 HVXs on Tuesday. Well if Panasonic is sending out equal orders to all venders then being on a super long waiting list of a store that ordered over 100 HVXs becomes a bad plan.

I had guessed that retailers like EVS, SC, or B&H would receive larger allotments per order then your smaller stores with smaller orders. From what it appears the numbers are being spread evenly.

Cheers
I am concerned about the same thing. I got on the EVS list back in the summer of 2005 and I have no idea when I can expect my HVX. Meanwhile others who went to smaller companies in November appear to be getting there cameras. I'm surprised a large outfit like EVS hasn't received much larger shipments. Hopefully, that will change soon.

BTW, I am not blaming Rush or EVS. They have been great and I know they want to ship as much as I want to recieve. It is just frustrating for everyone.

I agree CMessineo, it is frustrating. Ruch & EVS are a great group of guys. I would not want this delay of delivery to reflect bad on them, or any reputible retailer.
Because from the looks of it, we are gonna have a long wait ahead of us, and I am sensing that there are a lot of impatient people on this board. Juding from some of the posts, we made need to come up with some sort of "virtual chill pill" for some of the more impaitent ones. :)

I am curious to find out if Barry or Jarred have gotten theirs yet. And if not, are they on a waiting list too.

I am ready for the long wait.

In fact, I am more worried about the possible "failure rates" coming from the factory. Is the slow delivery of product to keep the failure rates low? If so....I really applaude Pana, and tell them don't rush it, send me a good piece of gear for the money, the first time.

But on the other hand, I would not want the impatience of the masses to force them to ship out product quickly and "raise the failure rate."

I agree with you, mattsdp. I'd like to get a quality product, even if I have to wait longer for that product.
