I wanted to find out what some of they delivery dates people are being told. Please sound off.

I'm like #130 something at evs and Randy, I believe, said maybe the end of February - but it doesn't seem like it unlesss Panny has a boatload ready to go that we don't know about!

Actually the info that would help most of us would be how many orders Rush has completed now. We asked this on the last shipment, would be nice to know how many cameras EVS received in this last shipment. Any news Rush?

Cheers

Thanks, Paul. I am right now in a debate on when would i buy this camera. The demand is so great, and the saliva dripping from the mouths of the masses as they wait for there chance to own this camera is drowning me. I have checked a couple of places and the wait lists are crazy...i yet to come across one that is less than a 100 people.

As far as I am concerned, I make my living shooting, not waiting on a camera. So I think for me and my business, I am going to take advantage of this wait time. Specialized Communications in MD has in my opion the best deal going on the reservation of the hvx200. I am going to put down my deposit on the Pana, then take the rest and pick-up the JVC. And wait for the Pana to come in.

Anymore.....please continue to sound off, particulary interested in your number on the list, and what you have been told by the retailer.

Beginning of March I have heard from two dealers. Since I got that great price from Barbara at AVS.. I'm content to wait till April or so if necessary.

I think Rush said he's gotten 3 cameras so far: 2 for rental, and one to lucky Jay...

Three came in his first Dec 29 shipment (as I understand it). There has already been a 2nd shipment (again, as I understand it). Would be nice to know how many came in that shipment.

Not mandatory, but would be good to know.

Cheers

Canada and the U.S. are supposed to receive their next (first in Canada) shipment in Feb. I don't think anyone who is #100 and up on a wait list is going to see their camera before the spring.
As a relatively small store, we should be getting our entire first order in Feb, and we still have room left on our list.

I have been told February would be the next shipment but no quantities were told to my vendor. But as I have said over and over does 1 cameras count as a shipment? we really need to see 10-15 arriving at a time to even put a dent in the waiting list. At this rate 1-3 a month is making for a really long wait!

I would love to know how many EVS got because I'm 17th on the waiting list. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll get a call about one waiting for me on the next shippment because I don't think I'm going to be hearing from them on this last one.

Rumor has the EVS list over 130. I feel sorry the guy at the end of the list. At this rate he/she may no have a camera until November of 2006, or later?!

Please...more, I would like to hear about more.

I ordered mine in November and received it this past Monday from Gasser's in San Francisco. I ordered it with 3 Eight Gig cards and got them as well. I still have a second camera on order with 2 eight gig cards coming as well as a P2Store, these were ordered in late December.
First impressions -- it's a great camera I love being tapeless...I have a Sony Z1 with a firestore which makes life easier as well. The Panasonic is about one stop less sensitive than the Sony testing both of them in interlace mode. You lose another stop in the HVX200 going to progressive and you can't use 18db with it in progressive. But there are always work arounds. Why is sensitivity important, when you're shoothing news you run up against a lot of things. Anyway that's my 2 cents for now.

Thanks oldmanvideo, you might want to repost that coment in some of the other threads as well. There are a lot of people who need to know those specs when it comes to making this purchase. Thanks.

But I want to keep this thread focused on delivery dates and waiting list numbers. I think a lot of people really want to know how long a wait they have. I for one,as i mentioned earlier, make a living shooting, not waiting on a camera.
Please......anymore, sound it off.

A small NW Panasonic retailer just received 3 HVXs on Tuesday. Well if Panasonic is sending out equal orders to all venders then being on a super long waiting list of a store that ordered over 100 HVXs becomes a bad plan.

I had guessed that retailers like EVS, SC, or B&H would receive larger allotments per order then your smaller stores with smaller orders. From what it appears the numbers are being spread evenly.

Cheers

Ugh...I placed my order the end of December. I'm 170 at EVS. ( Weeping and wailing and knashing of teeth.)

This is not good news. The Z1 was noted for being a very poor low light camera. It was reported to be a good 1-1/2 to 2 stops less sensitive than the DVX. Barry Green has made a guess that his HVX is only 1/4 stop or maybe a 1/2 stop less sensitive than the DVX. Somehow these numbers don't add up. The whole reason Panasonic went with the CCD design was to maximize the light sensitivity and latitude of the camera....thus the slightly less resolution of the camera compared to the XL-H1.

If my math is right then the Z1 is 1-1/2 stops less sensitive than DVX and the HVX is 2 stops less sensitive than the Z1 then that makes the HVX 3-1/2 stops less sensitive than the DVX??? That can't be right! Why would Panasonic sacrifice the resolution to gain latitude and sensitivity and still come out with this poor of a performance?

Someone enlighten me please. This is in direct conflict to Barry's reports. And to be honest I was expecting to take a sensitivity hit for HD res. But 3 -1/2 stops is more than I can accept. Especially shooting a large amount of available light projects.

Please keep this thread on subject. We want to know info, on what people are being told on delivery dates and what kind of numbers the retailers are getting shipment wise.

Please post exposure and sensotometry info and detailes in the approperate threads.

Please..carry on.
