HUNTED - Premiere

Hey PaPa, I just realized I did end up using something similar to that second CC you suggested! Thanks again for the help!

Will do Silverwolf, should be done within the next 4 weeks I'll keep you posted
Thanks Brandon, actually it also is the cover of the DVD
Hi Mark, thanks for the compliments really apreciate it buddy, here are the camera settings:
-everything is set to 0 except for Color Temp: -2, master PED is at -7, A. Iris Level: -1
-Cine-Like_D
-Matrix: Cine Like
-V Detail Fre: MID
-24P (ADV)
I would like to add that the main thing here is to get a proper exposure, light plays a big role here so it is not just the camera settings, I think lighting is key to getting a good image. I used Premiere pro 1.5 and that is also where I did the color correction. Hope this helps. I will try to break it down with more detail in the DVD
Check out this thread for the color correction:

i apologize if this has been discussed, but how did you do the arrow? CG or did you use Twixtor Revision or something and just my opinion...whoever said lose the aroow it's been done...geez a lot of movie tricks, effects get used a lot what's a person to do? for instance the wilhelm scream is in nearly every action movie and it would seem every sound editor tries to find a way to put it in even though people say "lose the wilhelm it's been done" ahhhhh, but how daring the man who put the wilhelm scream in during a judy garland musical number.

so this summer i'm going to go to every action movie and see the amount of times i see a slow motion bullet. hey van gogh lose the palette knife it's been done.

all in fun!

thanx Moe 4 the info good looking out , when u talk about exposure im thinking it helped ur in FL wear it warm and sunny in getting good light for good quality picture , so wanna ask did u use any lighting? or just like reflectors and that good old natural FL sun light ??

Hi Novelt, LOL its amazing how people see things diferently, but hey I take everything constructivly (as long as its not way out there) but that is the nature of the business we are in... like your analogy with van gogh! thanks for the support though :)
check out this thread, Mike breaksdown all the technical aspects of the arrow scene http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=36062

Yea, I made a point to shoot when the sun was out, We even postponed the shoot twice to get a 4 day sunny stretch. We used Light reflectors and a mirror and it worked amazingly for a number of reasons. Alot less stuff to worry about, and no noisy generator. However, When you do this you need to be very aware of the time of the day, and in what direction the sun is and what it is hitting. I'll tell you what though, you wouldn't want to be wearing that HEAVY steady cam gear on a 95 degrees day!

thanks moe...if i had known i woulda searched...speaking of sunshine and heat the difference between far west texas and florida...trees and water :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

oh and to clarify...i knew the arrow was CG (come on who shots arrows at a camera and how good a cameraman to actually track the arrow :2vrolijk_08:). i was really asking if the camera shot was done slo-mo in AE or through Twixtor.

LOL @ trees and water, but guess what, water causes LOTS of humidity! It's amazing, the minute I got out of the car I was drenched in sweat!
the camera shot was not slowed down, that was the actual speed that I used to film. everything else was speed up to give that effect.

Hi Moe,

Just to say, the CC was very sweet. And that CGI arrow, is just as good as what H-Wood is pumping out. Tell your CGI man "great job" from me.

Do you plan on streaming the actual short here soon? G-luck with the premier. What are you planning on next?

EJ

Thaks EJ. Yea Mike did a great job on the arrow senses no argument there! I'll try to stream a minute or so in a couple of weeks, I feel that posting a low res file does not really do it any justice, but I will have a DVD out with tons of features pretty soon :)

Moe,

Are you planning another fresh new project next? Is Mike in the biz? His arrow worked so nicely, I wouldn't be surprised.

I like that first pan around the girl and tree....gave it a nice intensity....was that hand held or maybe a steadi cam? ...seemed very fluid. Great job overall....I really liked the detail and coloring too. Seemed like good acting from what I saw too and that's normally the killer!

did you have any additional light in the outdoor scenes? ...reflectors or HMI? ...just curious, I thought the lighting was very cool and "real" looking.

right now I'm just submitting HUNTED to various film festivals and see where we go from there. I do have a project in mind, but focusing on finalizing this one first. Look up Michael Blackbourn on this forum if you are interested in his work he is a member here. Best of luck on ur projects :)

Yes, that's actually one my faivorate shots in the entire movie. It was shot on a glide cam, came out pretty smooth and fluid. Thanks for the compliment, the acting was very good, one thing I tried to avoid here is LOTS OF DIALOG! normally its what kills short films if you don't have great talent, but I think I was lucky with the talent I worked with.

Light reflectors, and a mirror and a couple of light diffusers. Like I said, I made it a point to film when there was NO clouds, ofcourse it rained on us once! lol but other than that it was always sunny

nice job Moe....that's the kind of project I would like to take on next. ....I like the "real" intensity you captured......going from frantic to smooth shots looks great.

Curious to your approach on the arrow.....I see after your cut from the shooter profile shot it seems your either doing a quick dolly back and then a whip pan around.....or maybe a glidecam moving away from the shooter and a whip pan around. .....or maybe a slow pan? .....it's hard to tell it's such a quick sequence!!

I would love to know how you planned that shot and what was involved if your onen to discussing it. I thought overall your work looked very pro and tasteful.
