How to fake NY in Germany (MV)

I don't know what people who either live in NY or are really familiar with it might think about it, but from someone who is neither I thought it worked well. If you hadn't mentioned in your post what you were doing I wouldn't have given it a second thought. There were two clips in the beginning that looked a little vacant, could have used more traffic and people walking.

Nice job.

Seeing the white delivery vans is a dead give away, because none of thoes background cars are available here...

However a NYC taxi goes a long way, and the buildings look pretty "familiar".

What is that color effect you did. i think its quite pretty.

Thank you...
@TimurCivan: Yeah the car definetely gives it away. It's a very straight forward effect. Basicly I created a ramp of two colors in After Effects and copied it on the footage with the "hard light" blending mode. Then I keyframed and shifted the colors in some shots to give them some movement.

Nice! Having been to NY, I would have just thought that was a street I missed in a not as busy area :) If you hadn't said anything, I would have never thought twice about it. Also, love the gradient from AE, very nice touch. Thanks for sharing!

I'd say the same too... very convincing pull off and only since we knew what to look for was there something to spot. This has a really nice flow and style and a decent song to boot... Congrats and thanks for sharing...

what did you shoot on?

Hey is that Taunusstraße in Frankfurt? Some of the opening scenes reminded me of the lower East Side in NY, but I don't think we have a GMFOTO.

Thanks you all!
It was shot in Frankfurt, yes.
Shot on 5dII with Zeiss ZE lenses.
And Marie is a Fan of the Band
and we just asked her :)

Having grown up in NYC, I would say it is not NYC--if told to look for it. But just watching the video, I think it works very well. Very nicely done;).

I thought it was nice too and the girl was definitely easy on they eyes :) I think it works great, if you really had to have a convincing new york scene for some reason, I'm sure someone here has some quick shots going through time square (shot out the window of a cab) or something that you could buy for $20 bucks or they would just give you. But I think it's fine as is. Great job, and yeah, the song was kind of like an up-beat John Mayer tune or something.

I wouldn't have looked for it without being asked to. But being asked to, I can tell it's not New York instantly. Different sidewalks than we have hear. Much too clean. And I don't recognize that building, and I have walked many of Manhattan's major streets. Not dense enough. Plus, the area when you're driving down at night, there is a billboard for KIA... don't see those around too often.

However, for a non-native, it would pass muster easily, and without being asked to look for it, it's perfect. Excellent video. I really enjoyed it.
