help unloading my p2 cards please

k so i have a hvx205a and i am using a mac book pro ... os 10.4 , and final cut studio ...... so i have footage that i would like to edit but can not unload my footage from my hvx205a to fcs , i have tried handbrake and mpeg streamclip , maybe i did it wrong . i know on fsc2 you go to file and click something and capture on fsc its log and capture . log and capture does not work . i am a total rookie and can use any suggestions thanks

k yea i forgot to say i am using a 1394 cable

Make sure to have all P2 drivers installed, then connect cam and MBP (first the 6pin!, Camera powered down!) via FW400, set the HVX to PC dub mode (HVX manual) - this will mount the P2 cards on the desktop.
Then use "Log and Capture" in FCP to ingest the P2 cards.

And for FCP 6.0.5, it's log and transfer, not log and capture.

What do you mean, "go directly to DVD"?

If you mean for backing up purposes, you can author a DVD right from the cards.

If you mean recording live to a DVD recorder, sure, plug the S-video output into a dVD recorder and stream directly to it.

If you mean authoring a DVD from P2 card footage, you could drag the footage from the card into EDIUS and then tell EDIUS to render out a DVD of the timeline.
