Having issues with 7D.

Let me see if I have this correct..If I shoot my 17-55/T2i at 18, 27, and 38mm, I'm getting the same field of view that a 35mm film maker would at 24, 35, and 50mm? If so, that's good info to have and something I've never read before. Thanks to all who answered!

Yeah that's true. But honestly: who cares! Just use the focal lengths that work best for your shots.

That what I was thinking. Canon's EF-S 15-85mm IS would cover all three. My knowledge of common film making lenses and their lengths is rather limited.

The 15-85 is a good lens and will offer better sharpness at 24mm, 35mm and 50mm when compared to the (t2i kit lens) 18-55 IS.

But it does cost between 3 and 4 times more !!!

Go for it if u have the cash !

I'm just glad my 'cheap' 17-55 works for this as well. I was wondering if I had made the wrong lens choice for common film focal lengths. :Drogar-Kriz(DBG):

No...you're good there. But when it comes for shooting indoors you might want to buy some light...of faster primes...and more light.

yeeaah baby! Ben B speaking the truth, there are no rules!
Or as Neo said 'there is no spoon' !!

Yep! buy more lights !! :)

Buy more lenses and join glass-aholics anonymous !!

Thanks Ian and JD. I have access to a full stage lighting rig if I need more light (one of the perks of being a musician). If I can't get a good shot at f2.8 and all that light, I have no business shooting at all. :)
