Guaranteed Sex

Hi, I just finished filming this short with some friends. Had a blast making it and shot the production in three days on a $100 budget. Narrator was one day of recording. Pre-production was about a week and a half and I put it together in post in about three days.

We filmed using a 50mm f/1.8, 85mm f/1.8, 24-105 f/4 and 17-50mm f/2.8:

Guaranteed Sex

This is a pretty prime short for film festivals, We call them mind cleaners. This is a good genre because film festival directors need to break up all these serious or sad films they have with films that make the audience forget and get them worry free from the last film ready for the next serious sad film. Sadly this film is on youtube. film festivals dont usually accept anything that has been on the internet in full, but who knows! maybe just reshoot it and the submit it. It is a fresh idea and you have show you can execute it well.

just my 2 cents,
Jon

Thanks Kegan and Matt!

Jon, any suggestions on film festivals you think this might work at? I've never submitted a film to a festival and don't really know where to start. I've Googled SXSW and Sundance and Tribeca but those are monoliths.

Thanks for those resources Jon! I found this awesome website for film festivals too, while I was searching around. It's called https://withoutabox.com/

Basically you build an entire project packet for whichever film you've just made, and then it stays in your 'projects' bin and you can submit it to all the film festivals (a TON) that are in their system.

Thanks Steve : )

How can you submit this film when you took the idea word for word from an old internet tale. Did you come up with this story originally? I've heard this story on Reddit thousands of times before.. It's nicely executed but not an original idea and I think that would disqualify you, no?

Thanks RGD.

Throughout production I thought it was completely anonymous, but after I uploaded the film some people from Reddit pointed me in the direction of the original source.

I got in touch with him and he dug the film and let it stay online. It's a bit of a delicate situation due to some other rights stuff (don't want to go into detail too much in public as I don't want to jeopardize anything), so the film may have to come down at some point in the future.

In the event that the original author of the piece is open to the idea of film festivals, I'll be able to submit and want to be prepared : )
