Grindhouse.....split

Naked Lunch was one of the wierdest movies I had ever seen, but I sort of like his stuff. It's out there.

Naked Lunch was Cronenberg...but thanks for playing.

Naked Lynch....now, that is out there.

I'm sure he made some cash off Inland Empire. As for the distributors, that is another story.

Okay. I just finished Planet Terror. The real terror would be if I ever had to watch it again.

I guess I should say up front that I don't like Zombie movies. I can't name one that I have liked and this is no exception.

John was right...there was no witty dialogue. Rodriguez has a tin ear when it comes to dialogue. There were some cool effects in the movie, but not nearly enough to save it. This was From Dusk Till Dawn on steroids (sorry Barry). The ending was so out there as to be incomprehensible. Yes, yes, I realize he was trying to make a "bad" movie. You know what? He did. The bad film effects were just that, bad. WAY over-done. I think I read earlier that in Europe people walked out after the first movie. It may not have been their misunderstanding of the double feature concept, but more that they didn't want to sit through another POS like they had just seen. Which is too bad, because the QT movie (Death Proof) was so good. It is even better when juxtaposed against this movie.

Did I like it? Hmmmmm. Let me think a minute...NOOOOOOOOOOO! I was bored to ****ing tears.

Having said all that. The best thing about this movie other than the fact that Rose McGowan is hot, is the trailer for Machete. I wished that was a real movie because it looked MUCH better than what I just watched.

That's a fair assessment Blaine

I see toally where it gets silly; but what can I say ? This film feels so much like a an 80's film I just can't help but embrace it

Some scenes are too mcuh, but some just bring home some great vibes

Not for everyone

That's the great thing about you, John. As long as someone is willing to give a detailed review or assessment of a film you are always open to their discussions. While RR's Planet Terror is just not for me, I can see where other might like it. But RR has just about closed the door. If he doesn't give me a legit follow up to Sin City (not a sequel, mind you, but a movie of that caliber) I'm going to give up on him.

I haven't hid my opinion of RR

I ahve always embraced his enthusiasm for filmmaking but have found his entires nothing to wrote home about

SIN CITY is the first film he's done where I sat and took notice of his prowness. There moments in PT where I can see he is confident and really showing us some some chops

At the same time; getting rid of the silly elements would help

I'm not giving up; I'll reserve another project too see where he takes us ; and no, SIN CITY 2 does not count

QT is heads and shoulders above him in skillls

Your chance to see who RR can do with a good sized budget and a remake of Barbarella seems to be dead. I doubt Machete will come to fruition, how about Sin City 3?

Or maybe Spy Kids 4D? It's 3D, but this time he will openly admit that he is wasting your time as well.

The understatement of the century. I used to be so-so on QT but I just can't get over how great his dialogue is. You can have your Mamet...but I think QT writes the best dialogue happening today. He can be derivative in his plotting but his characters and dialogue are unique and unsurpassed.

I think most of us agree with that assement jpeck

RR hasn't sold me on anything until SIN CITY (in spite of DUSK reaking of QT's touch)

QT and RR may be buddies, but they are worlds apart

At least RR is one of the more 'likable' buddies, I don't know what QT sees in Eli Roth. :thumbdown

RR is a inspiration, no doubt. But it is time for him to step forward and put his stamp on the filmmaking world. He's got to decide if he's going to make something of substance or keep ****ing around with the world of independence (NTTAWWT)

Ain't that the truth.

His films are an event. I love his work.

Whether it's the opening to DP with homegirl holding her crotch or the Jungle Julia mimic. Don't like Quentin ?

PISS OFF ! :D :D

My first impression of ROTH was BTS on HOSTEL and his reference of his fat, steaming, crap he took

I tuned out in about 5 seconds

John,

I think Quentin is back with Death Proof. Now it's time for him to set aside his penchant for honoring the past and bring something of himself to the screen.

I know both of you made comments about Transformers being generational, but imagine that same generation thinking Hostel and Saw are good horror films. :nads:

Check youtube for an interview between Charlie Rose and QT, it should still be up. In the interview he says that the WWII movie he is panning is the best stuff he has ever written.

Both those films made me want to puke. Neither one was of any lasting importance as far as I am concerned. Both were flavor to the day guts and gore with absolutely no substance behind them.

That sounds like Inglorious Bastards which John is hanging on the edge his chair for...:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

I, too, am looking forward to it...:love4:
