Hey guys,

I got our first DVX100a today and i was wondering if someone can point me in the direction to a good DVD, book on this thing?

thanks

EDIT: Oops, too slow, you found the link. :)

Awesome that you got a DVX, great camera. Have fun!

Yea i i love it already and have not even gotten to filming, im getting a second this week!

The only thing i feel it lacks is the zoom. are there ways to increase it? Im going to order the book now so i can start readin up :)

Thanks guys

Also, whats the best quality tapes to use and the longest length? In the manual it says do not use 80 min tapes? I would like longer ones so i can potentially avoid changing during a concert shoot, but if 63min ones are the longest ill take it.

The biggest thing is to pick a brand and stick with it (more accurately, use either Sony or not Sony, but never mix Sony with non-Sony). Panasonic or Fujifilm tapes are great.

80-minute miniDV tapes are a bad idea. DV is already a relatively fragile format, and in order to fit more tape in the same cassette, they have to make it a little thinner.

Alright good to know, So 63 min pro or master pany tapes will do then..

Read the book ten times, taking notes. Read through the notes. Then read the book another ten times!!!

Oh, and before you ask questions in the forum about the camera, chances are it's in the book!!!

It's the best.....

sometimes just getting a straight answer explained by someone else is better and easier to understand then reading a book....

unfortunately, "sometimes" = "most of the time" in this neck of the woods.
Generally speaking, it's good form to put some effort into it first. The search function works well and will yield much.

Trust me i hear ya... I may be new to this forum but not new to forums in general. Usually places like this are good for quick answers. But doing research first and reading up are always good
