Digital store Vienna (Austria) has 30 (well now 29) pieces.

Footage soon.

Thanks,

Johnnie

Why are stores overseas just getting big stocks of 7Ds and here everyone has to be on a wait list or pre pay!!

Good luck with the new camera

ive had mine a few days now...some of the shots look awesome.

this is gonna be one of those cameras that you have to work around tho....

aliasing can look terrible...i spent yesterday on a punt (a boat with some posh geeza pushing boat along with a stick) at Cambridge in England...very hot day, lots of high contrast filming the 600 year old university buildings as we sailed down the river....great stuff i thought...got home 1080p moire/aliasing hell:(..elizabethan bricks are really thin so they made camera go crazee.
Gonna have to learn this cameras boundaries.

apart from that......
careful with picture styles or it may look like a dodgy paint filter (reds exploding everywhere in my footage)....neutral is safest (with sat and con turned lowest is what 5d forums reckon)

Dont get me wrong this camera stays with me as a compliment to my ex1/letus....which is still king.

I'm curious to see what the picture styles give us? When you say it can look like a paint filter, do you mean by doing curve adjustment or other preset effects?

on the camera you have either...standard portrait landscape neutral faithful monochrome or 3 user presets, each of these only has sharpness contrat saturation and color tone....but i think the main controls are on the software that comes with it...good people to ask about this are the 5dmk2 video owners as they have had a year of dealing with exactly the same issues.

Did you try taking the 1080p footage down to 720p footage? What does that look like? I would think it would fix most of the alasing problems. 720p is still more than enough resolution for most applications.

Here is what I prefer and I think it's close to what Stu over at Prolost uses:

Sharpness: 0
Contrast: -4
Saturation: -4
Color Tone: 0

I also tend to put the WB to a more warm than cool balance.

Naturally the 5D is very sharp and colorful (too much so) so I think toning it down really gives you what you want.

i did knock it down to 720p...still there im afraid...i will post some stills and start a more specific thread soon.

generally though footage looks lovely, its just events seemed to conspire to produce the maximum nastiness yesterday.

And thanks for the tips octopi

Probably because the European market is the one that actually pays the bills. The 7D is $2,410 in Europe and $2,700 in the UK, while it is $1650 in the U.S.
Where do you think Canon makes more money? That's where they will send most product. Makes sense. :cheesy:

Mine should be here tomorrow by the way.

Try using Stu's setting. Turning sharpness down seems to help avoiding aliasing. Actually it makes sense in general, with or without aliasing. The camera is too video sharp anyways for most things in my opinion. Also, learning how to recognize aliasing prone situations and areas and defocusing these areas during shooting helps a lot. I played a whole day with a 5D before buying my 7D to see if the so talked aliasing, moire and rolling shutter were acceptable and they are more than ok. You just need to learn to work with the camera and honestly, nobody will really notice in most cases, just camera geeks.

HEELLLLLL YEAAAHHH!!!!!! just got my 7d from norman camera, it was the last one they had. i'll have it tomorrow! wooo hooooo!!!!
