GH4 GH4 SD Cards

Kind of, you will be able to shoot 4K, 1080p up to 96fps in 100mbit.
But you cant use the 200mbit modes.
This is according to Jordan who used that very card when they shoot the Camerastore TVs review.

I also have a few of those cards and plan on keeping them to get going and buy the newer once as a go and the price starts to dropp.

I get my GH4 on Thursday and I'll see if my 64GB SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-I SDXC card works in it. I'll post the results back here.

U3 is recomended for 4K. These are U1. YMMV but I wouldn't mess around with under rated media cards when your dealing with cutting edge.

Although U3 is recommended the speeds they are publishing can be handled by Sandisk. I'm still not sure why the 200mbit mode isn't working since you can record ProRes 220 HQ on an Extreme Pro card without issue.

That is a really valid point about 'what works with the BMPCC' - That should be a good starting point for none U3 cards...

I've just sprung for the 128gb class 3 sandisk, and have just found out the GH4 manual states it only supports cards up to 64gb. Any folks who've received their GH4 able to confirm or deny support for the transcend 128gb? Thanks very much.

I think a lot of us have also ordered the Transcend 128GB U3 Cards!! LOL I think they will be fine. The camera supports ExFAT, and my GH3 could see a Kingston 128GB Class10 card - so it will be fine :)

That's exactly what I was thinking. My SanDisk 64GB Extreme Pro Class 10 UHS-I cards (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...DXPA_064G_A75_Extreme_Pro_64GB_SDHC_SDXC.html) record 220Mbit ProRes HQ from my Blackmagic Pocket fine - why wouldn't they be able to handle 200Mbit from the GH4?

Could be because the card was released before speed class 3 UHS U3 was ever released. Class 10 U1, as backed by your links, IS a MINIMUM (not maximum) of 10MB/s.

That should be it. As far as I can tell, there is nothing special about U3. I have a bunch of Class 6 cards (the older speed rating) that'll easily quality for Class 10: They do 20+ MB/s easily.

It really should. No idea why camera manufacturers keep on doing that. If they did a proper implementation of SDXC the limit is 2 TB.

Keep in mind the GH3 also recommended class 10 cards to shoot the 50mbps mode yet I have shot dozens of hours of footage sometimes using SanDisk class 6 cards. If I still had any class 4 cards I bet those would work as well. Panasonic lists cards to save their butt. Probably mostly comes from a decision from legal more than anything. This could be due to some manufacturers making crappy cards. It is difficult for Panasonic to make a huge list of the tested cards and is much easier to just pick a level where there is a 100% guarantee to work regardless of the shoddy manufacturing standards for a particular card. Even the most pathetic U3 card should work for 4k.

Chances are much lower rated SanDisk cards will work fine but Panasonic will never legally tell you that. You use them at your own risk.

So any news now that the camera is out?

Has anybody been able to record 200mbit 1080p with the Transcend 128GB U3 or even the Sandisk Extreme Pro 95mb/s?

EDIT: Just found someone in another thread saying that the 95mb/s worked for the 1080p 200mbit as well. If thats the case I guess I wont be buying any new cards untill I run in to any problems.
Now if we could just have a european release...
