I went to turn my camera on tonight and i`m getting a message saying battery cannot be used. So I tried my other battery and got the same message. Both batteries are Panasonic and have been charged. The camera has been working fine the last 2 weeks until now.

Just clarify i`m getting the message on the battery that came with and a extra one i bought (same one). I has worked fine for 2 weeks had no problems until i turned the camera on tonight.

Ok just tried that still no dice. Still getting cannot read battery, then Lumix flashes up on the screen. If you push the shutter button the screen comes up and AF light will come on but then goes back to blank.

Where did you buy the camera? Sounds like it is defective. I have heard of this problem before and the user had to return the camera. Sorry.

Those guys are very good. I would give them a call tomorrow. Do you know anyone else local who has a GH2?
I would also try a different battery. Maybe your charger is not working?

No the charger is working one battery was in the camera and the other was completely charge. Abel`s site saids only returns up to 14 days, its been over that. I guess my next option is Panasonic in Texas. I did a meter test on the charger and batteries and they were all working.

I had the same problem with my GH2, a month after I bought it. I filmed with it all day long, but as sooon as I came back home the camera didn't start up again. It gave the message "This battery can't be used" and auto switched off a few seconds after. I ordered a new battery, but this didn't solve the problem. So I did send it back to the camera store where I bought it, luckily there was 2 years warranty included. Had to wait for about 5 weeks, before I received the device back. The reparation report said they replaced a PCB. Now it's working fine again.

But as I read in your post, there is no possibility to return it, since the 14 days have been expired. I'm afraid your next option would be Panasonic in Texas..

Good luck with it.

Thats poor if a cam/dslr goes wrong it is the responsability of the store here in the uk up to 1 year, and amazon do refunds or replacements up to 30 days, good luck it sounds worrying, maybe pana should let us know what causes this problem.

I can't say for sure, but rumor has that Pani service is terrible. I have used Canon service repair centers, and their fantastic. I hope the rumors are wrong. I certainly don't like to spread B.S. But many people have reported the same issues. Anyways man, good luck. I know how irritating it is to go through this type of crap. You may try to Abel , they have a good rep, and they just might feel for you. worth a try.

Yes i just called Abel and left a message for their service area. Hopefully they can help with the problem. I know it`s been over 14 day hopefully they will help.

My guess is the communication link between the camera and battery is not working, so the camera rejects the battery (or the camera incorrectly measures the battery voltage). The problem must be in the camera as either battery is not getting accepted. I would call Abel and ask for a replacement. It is not the same as returning within 2 weeks, better chance to get it resolved in your favor as you are not just changing your mind, but rather have an almost new broken camera.

So if Abel refuses to help and i have send it off to Panny, would i have to ship everything back or just the body? I thinking of picking up a body in the mean time.
