GH2 official discussion thread

God bless mother Russia! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Большое спасибо. ;)

People say that you hacked the camera, but I think you actually un-hacked it. Panasonic hacked/limited the camera's default firmware and you unlocked its true potential. Thanks for that.

I will be donating to the cause for sure. BTW how do you donate when you use different hacks? I will be donating to the original hacker at personal view, but if I want to use different hacks, do I donate to different places or just at personal view?

So I've found it hard to search for this exact information. Now that gh1 and gh2 both are hacked, what does a gh1 still do better? Anything? Is there any drawbacks of the gh2? The reason I ask, I just bought the gh2, and am wondering if I need to keep my gh1 around for any specific shots that the gh2 may struggle with. Thanks for your input.

I think the only pro of the GH1 is the 422 chroma sub-sampling in MJPEG mode, still unavailable on the GH2. Now that GH2 has 1080p 25p/30p, you should keep both, you won't have any problem mixing the 2 (except for the grading).

You know....I never really looked at it this way. But what you said makes a whole lot of sense.

Well, as it seems Vitaliy Kiselev is the new Chief Engineer and CEO of Panasonic. :-Laugh(DBG): Practically speaking... ;)

Powerful, powerful the Bright Side is...

Наздраве.

Hello, this is my first message on the forum, My name is Jonathan, I'm french and live around Paris. I wanted to know if you could reassure me about something, I bought a gh2 at the beginning of 2012, so not long ago, and I just bought the Helios 44M lens with the adapter, as I changed it, I noticed there is a little bit of play between the body and the lenses on the rotation level (the Helios and his adapter as well as the panasonic 14-140mm I had originally), everything works perfectly but there is a very tiny looseness, less than a millimeter and I wondered if it was normal? I already asked on another forum, and I've been told it's completely normal and I don't have to worry about it, but I wanted to ask for some others opinions just in case!

thank you for your time and attention!

Very nice Minor! Have you tried Mysteron? Mysteron is the only patch I have tried since I got my gh2. I'm looking forward to trying out sedna.

third Party, DSTE 7.2 v 1600 mAh is Safe of GH2 or Not?
i got DSTE batteries from Ebay, They Told it is Fully Coded Version. but it is not, It is not showing remaining power on LCD,, how to know the batteries is discharged? it went sudden of,, may it cause any damage of GH2?

You will know because the camera will turn off. But it does so gracefully, saving the current clip, so no big deal.

My experience with these batteries is the camera will run on low voltage and then drop out. The issue with this is the camera draws more current to make up for the dropping voltage (ohms law) and a burning smell emancipates from the camera. Both my Gh1 and GH2 do this. To avoid, swap out the non panasonic batteries before this starts to happen, usually after 40-60mins.
