Why do you guys waste time with PD? There are countless other retailers out there who have their act together. You're just beating your head against a wall. Stay focused and keep calling around. You'll get one.
 
I was able to get the body for $675 through PD with the facebook discount plus another online discount i found. Price is kinda hard to pass up. I haven't actually received it btw.

It looks like Provantage took the GH2 off their website. They were priced at $883 for the kit, now not there at all.

I really hope that doesn't mean my order is about to go up in smoke. My credit card has been charged, but no update to my "real time" status report.

Sounds like my first purchase with them. I hope it results in the camera showing up out of the blue tomorrow with no warning and then I get a tracking # a week after already having the camera.

I hope it doesn't too Rory. I had both the black and silver body pages bookmarked to my toolbar and when I checked today, they went to the home page, not the GH2s. So I looked through the listings I could find, no GH2s listed that I saw.

Hi - I purchased the GH2 14-42 from J&R a little under a month ago. Having second thoughts about the price and the fact that I really don't need all the features. I plan on returning the item, but I have been following this board and now how difficult it is to find this camera. Let me know in the next hour or two if anyone wants and we can transact through Paypal. I took roughly 800 pictures, otherwise in perfect condition. Price is $1000 plus shipping and paypal fees
 
So, EPP is an employee purchase program? i.e., those of us not working for big companies cannot use it, right?

So otherwise, the only discount available is the Facebook one, right?

I was able to get order through PD EPP just using a code I found in a forum and my gmail email address. Getting an actual camera in my hands from them is another story (nothing yet after ordering almost 3months ago).

I've been following this thread for a little while now so I thought I'd update with my situation.

I almost ordered the GH2 + 14/140mm kit on February 25th - when I got my last paycheck - but I was short $50 so I thought I had to wait until today's paycheck (Mar. 11). However, after speaking to a Provantage employee via email, I decided to place an order for the GH2 anyway because he told me that the GH2 won't ship for 2-3 weeks and that they will only charge my card when it ships.

So I placed my order on March 6th. I got an email notice on March 7th from Provantage to call back for security purposes. I called Provantage and "verified" my identity by answering 5 multiple questions (last digits of SS #, what addresses I haved lived at, etc.).

On March 9th, I got an email saying that my item is ready to ship but that my order is on hold because they tried to charge my (prepaid) card and it was declined. I got paid today and transferred money to that card - sent Provantage an email to charge it today - and they did.

Hopefully, that means that my GH2 is on its way here to Germany!!!* (I guess 2-3 weeks to ship turned into 2-3 days to ship).

* I'm living overseas with an APO address. My understanding is that the GH2 will ship from the Provantage warehouse in Ohio to New York. From NY, it will be flown to Germany, and then it should arrive at my military base. If they really did ship it out today (or anytime soon) - it should arrive here by March 28th.
 
I ordered from Abel NY last week. The guy was really cool and told me they'd get some in about a week and I had 4 people in front of me so mine should ship. Well they received some on the 9th but mine didn't ship. When I asked about my order I was told my camera hadn't come in yet and that they only get about 10 in at a time so I'd have to wait my turn. Umm..hello..isn't 5 less than 10? Think I could get a more professional explanation than "wait your turn". The difference in communication before the order and now that I'm waiting for the order seems quite different. Like I'm bothering them now with questions. I'm hoping one of the other places I have one on order comes through first as I'm far from impressed with Abel. Sounds like I got bumped for someone more important or I'm having smoke blown up a strange dark place. Either way I don't like it.

Has anyone had any experience with Unique? Seems like the prices are too good to be true...

I think you ordered the 14-140 kit and I just ordered the 14-42. My guess is they got mostly 14-140 but since I didn't get any explanation I'll just have to wonder. I'm seriously considering just canceling the order and ordering a body only from Unique. I'm not really interested in any of the kits as I'm primarily using it for filmmaking and my FD collection along with a pancake should cover everything. Unique is closed for flooding right now but I'll call them when they open back up and see what their preorder situation is like.

I ordered online @ Unique Photo on Dec 30, 2010 around 10 PM EST : Silver, Body only = @ USD $737.35 + Shipping & Handling @ USD $9.26 (UPS Ground) = USD $746.61 w/o taxes...

My order was shipped on Jan 3, 2011 (got a message w/ the tracking number)... delivered as expected, no issues whatsoever.
