GH2 in a Hexakopter

Simulator has its drawbacks and reality for sure is hard.

Simulator has its drawbacks and reality for sure is hard.

It seems you need to practice on a simulator more before you go out again. And then just practice flying before you try to attach a camera. Nobody just buys a quad and starts flying. You have to practice just getting 3 inches off the ground and moving left and right etc. Slow down!

I intended to practice again. The problem with the simulator is that just flying the thing is too easy, but losing sight of it is even more easy. It's hard to fly straight lines because of that. You can't just "walk" along. So I hardly get a good look and feel by using that. In reality the problem is you can hardly fly just above the ground because of the wind generated by the heli itself. I should have put the heli on GPS Hold as well, when it was up in the air. That would have made it all (look) a lot easier.

Very nice shots Jeff! Do you have some type of servo thing to aim the camera? FPV? I'd live to see a shot of the cam on the Hexa. Nice Leo Kotke jam too!

Hi Jeff. I just checked out and "Liked" your FB page. I love all the copter shots. And I see you hacked some GoPros for a nicer lens. Are you happy with the footage from those GoPros?

The GoPros with the Sunex are great, but you need descent blue bird days for them to really shine.

For fpv gear check out the 1.2 lawmate tx/rx. Seems to be a huge hit with the guys doing extended fpv flights.

For exposure I prefer manual, but if variance is required I go to Program or Aperature. (Shutter will show horrible stepping with stepped iris changes)

Cheers,
Jeff

Awwwww Man, just left a pile of drool on my desk after watching that, and its not even NSFW ... I must be getting old !!! :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

Jeff, did you just use a FPV cam for framing that, or did you have a Vid feed from the GH2 ?

I'm using a FPV cam for downlink. Might try an HDMI downconverter though.

Some rafting samples:

Jeff

Will Vimeo play the video at 1080p even if you don't force 180p playback in the settings? I always upload 1080p, but I'm not sure that it plays like that at full screen automatically.
