GH1 Shipping Today! According to Panasonic Sales Rep

I just called Henry's and amazingly they said my GH1 shipped today. If you are still looking for one you might try calling them as they apparently got a shipment in... I don't know if they have any left in stock though.
 
Darn. Henrys said I ordered like minutes after the last one was sold from this shipment, but they may or may not have a new shipment coming in within a week or so, and I am second or third in line on that one.
 
That stinks Ben! It did seem like maybe your order was different than mine last week since they didn't take your CC info and they took mine. Sorry that you missed it by 1 GH1.

I was shocked when he said it shipped actually -- and now I see they charged my card too. So must be true...

I am stupefied as to why Canada has the GH1's, however the USA market is completely devoid of any product!

Yeah maybe they took your info right then cause you made the cut...regardless just hoping I get it before July 20th (trip to NYC) that date is getting closer and closer all the time...just two weeks out now >.<

Yeah well I'm loving their customer service so much I just might order everything from Canada from now on.

Report - NY getting shipments around the 15th

Just talked to my friendly neighborhood Sales Rep at a dealership in NYC. They're getting about 20 or so units around the 15th. Put myself down for 1. So far, they have one in house that's going through the ol' testing gauntlet. I imagine this timeline is probably applicable to BH, Adorama, JR, etc.....
 
I just placed an order with Henry's and I have to say, after all the back and forth with Panasonic it's refreshing to talk to someone who has their finger on the pulse of the GH1. Great customer service.

PANNY-DIRECT told me just a few minutes ago that they were supposed to receive a shipment ( as stated in her computer ) on the 2nd of July to the warehouses. She then said that another shipment was due the 14th. Ha ha ha. Ground Hog Day of last month.

We are in a Panasonic Catch-22 life!

I had a preorder w/J&R from early May (~May 5th). But as soon as Panny direct started taking preorders on 5/15 I placed an order there as well.

Then I get the delayed email from J&R. I called and the lady said 7/14 was when they'll get their shipment after I was put on hold for ~2 minutes. I canceled the order anyway. This was early June when I was told 7/14.

So FWIW this 7/14 may not be total BS...

What if all of this delay is to get rid of the old G1 inventory in blue and red clogging the store warehouses? They should have never released the G1 without a simple video mode in order to be more marketable.

I'm going nuts trying to find any color body be it champagne or red I don't care anymore I have a July 18th deadline to get it for a trip!
 
I'm confused as to how you guys manage to hear stuff like July 14th from Panasonic. The only date I've heard from them is that my camera shipped last week and would be here today, which turned out to be a blatant lie. Now all I hear is that it is still on backorder and they make it sound like the product hasn't even been released yet. BS!!! 1-800-405-0652 is the number you guys call right?
 
7/14 I heard was from JR. They said they would get 200 next week but I'm not holding my breath. I doubt Panasonic can even make that many in a year.
 
Maybe they meant they have 200 on order, but said it wrong, and are expecting a shipment of some cameras (mostly likely not all) on or around the 14th?

Or maybe Panasonic got things in order and is really going to bombard the US market finally.
 
Panasonic definitely said mid July to me too -- I still have orders in with them and Amazon (since May 13), but Henry's I ordered last week and it shipped today.

There must be some significance of July 14th overall since I am hearing that date from multiple people... who really knows. All I can say it that Canada rocks! :)
