GH1 Shipping Today! According to Panasonic Sales Rep

Correct me if I'm wrong... but if you purchase the camera from Canada, doesn't that mean that you get a Canadian warranty? So you have to mail your camera to Canada to get warranty repair?

It's not like you're mailing it to afghanistahn.

But remember the moose.

Henry's has always been a great place to deal with. The duties are strange in that there are many times none are charged and then, bingo, you get dinged. Hit & miss. The date the woman mentioned may fluctuate by a few days but I wouldn't hold my breath on the numbers. Other retailers are getting a fraction of what they have on order. You may want to contact Vistek, also in Toronto 1-888-365-7777, to see what they may have coming. Try and avoid UPS delivery. They charge a high brokerage fee whether there's duties or not.

YES!!!!!!!! I just contacted a camera shop in Montreal. They have ONE GH1 in stock. The lady I spoke to was awesome. They're going to hold it for me. I arrive in Burlington, Vermont tomorrow night and will drive 2.5 hours up to Montreal Thursday morning.

Wow, this is crazy

HAHAHAHA! I do remember the Moose! Damn trucks! God I am so funny, I had forgotten. :P

I reserved my place in line at Henry's, getting an email when they have it, and that's when they'll get my credit card info the guy said. Excited!

My camera is being paid for by a third party (parents >.<..not that embarrassed actually, I'm in college, they're awesome, and they are very responsible about what they let me spend their money on, which is to say not much aside from school, so in a way I have been saving up for this for a long time) So the point is I don't mind paying duties, the extra money for canadian, money lost in the exchange, shipping etc, since they're covering MSRP...if it means I get my camera in time to shoot New York!

Still keeping shopatron order, will prob cancel by end of week. Screw those guys. I've been strung along by them so long I have the freaking order # memorized.

Don't give up on Panasonic Direct just yet.

My June 10th order shipped June 29th (with no e-mail notice....) and is scheduled to arrive today.

I was not Shopatron'd.

!!!!!!!!!!

I nearly did a spit take when I casually checked my order status today expecting nothing to have changed.

lol! amazing. I too was not Shopatron'd but I was on the verge of ordering from Canada. Good thing it's Canada's birthday today (happy birthday!) and Henry's was closed... because LOL just joenami my June 5th order has out of the blue shipped today and will arrive on the 6th, Monday!!! Weird though because I ordered 2 day shipping but we'll see what happens. I'm not complaining as long as it gets here by Monday. If it doesn't... I will cry.

Yeah, I placed my order on the 23rd with Panasonic Direct when it said " In Stock ". I called today for the first time to see when I'm going to receive it. I was told 2 to 3 weeks! LOL!

.

I'm beginning to realize how lucky I was to have ordered it on the Panasonic Direct website during the hour it showed "in stock" on June 17 and received it just two days later. What a fluke! Not rubbing it in because I wish everyone with pre-orders would get theirs already! Just agreeing that GH1 U.S. delivery is some really messed up stuff. Makes me wonder if maybe they found a problem and are holding the mother load back until they can fix a hardware problem that is causing the panning mud or the zoom flicker or some other issue. Wouldn't that be a kicker... all us early adopters who feel like the elite few to own this camera get taken down a notch or two when we have to send our cameras back to Panasonic for a "recall". Would serve us right I guess. ;)

Just talked to a guy at shopatron about how shopatron people got screwed and Panasonic direct people didn't. He was very sympathetic, didn't know if shopatron had even shipped any when I asked, and was very bothered clearly by the fact that other orders had gone out sooner. Anyway that was nice...but I doesn't get my camera here any faster.

I just placed order by calling iBuy Digital.

They have really awful reviews on resellerratings, and to tell you the truth I'm a little nervous! But their price was a hair lower, and they supposedly have it in stock so...we'll see. He did sucker me into a battery...I told him that the Panasonic firmware locks out 3rd party batteries, but he said if it doesn't work they'll refund.

The whole thing feels shady, and I think I may have made a poor choice, but it's on my American Express, and I've had good luck with them fighting sellers in the past, if needed.

Anyway, I'll be the guinea pig and let you know how it goes. Even if I have to go through some runaround with them (Which seems to be their game) I still might get my camera faster than those waiting on Shopatron orders? We'll see.

You only live once, have to take a risk from time to time eh?

Also, though he told me it would have the US Factory warranty, it may end up being gray market...but I'm no further worse off with that than if I order Canadian. I was planning on putting a Square Trade warranty on it anyway.

Edit: Anyway, from what I'm reading on resellerratings and such, it seems like it's totally hit-or-miss with these people. That in mind, I'll probably give them until like Tuesday of next week, and if they haven't shipped...I'll just cancel my order.

I called panasonic again today since I also ordered on the 10th (saw joenami's post about is 10th order shipping), however I got the "It's on backorder, we don't know when it is going to come in, we don't know when you are going to get it, we are clueless" run-around. He also claimed he couldn't look up data about the order (because he claimed it didn't exists) that the prior agent I spoke to last week had no problem accessing. So the rest of you that ordered on the 10th (or before), don't get your hopes up just yet ....

Unfortunately there is no consistency in terms of who knows what when you call them (unless you want to say they are consistently clueless! I have received good information from a girl named Jolene (I think)...you can call her extension to see if she gives you better info:
253-395-0490 and give her your order#

She said in very clear terms (who knows how valid) that the next shipment was due July 15th.

Of course that didn't stop me from placing my order at Henry's also, who said they were expecting 25 cameras on July 1.

Did they say the camera was in stock? I checked the site and showing in stock but I doubt they actually do since no one even panasonic has this camera. Let us know if you get shipping notice.

Did they say the camera was in stock?

Yeah they did. I mean it's a shady operation. They've been known to lie, cheat, and steal. I'm kind of hopefully optimistic...but my realistic side says there's no way! So I guess we'll see. I placed the order by phone, and I got official order notification email tonight. If they pop up at B&H or somewhere else I'll probably whip out the other plastic card, order a second, and if I end up with 2...I'll sell the extra here for list price.

The two women I spoke to last week were comparatively very nice and informative. The information they gave me last week in regards to my June 10th order is the same was what Jolene told e-steve, mid-July. There is consistency, it is just inconsistent....

It's those damn pirates I tell you. They have taken the ship with all the cameras and have buried them next to their rum stash.
