GH1 availability around the world thread

From everything that I've been able to piece together from posts here and input from retailers is that the next big delivery will be between June 23 and 26 for Canada and U.S. customers. Depending on your shipping methods a lot of us should have a camera by the end of the month. It would be nice if Panny could pump out just a few a bit faster than that.
 
After doing the conversion , I am happy at the Canadian cost for the camera. $1899. Cdn. When comparing to the European and UK prices.
 
ugggh. i already had a shoot this weekend thats not gonna work out and my next is the 26th. am i seriously going to have to cancel TWO shoots because of this camera?

so just called Shopatron number from my Panasonic pre-order email.
after going through the automated system to be told by a computer that this item is on backorder it gives you an option for 'more information' which I pressed (natch) and then had someone answer who said they were from Panasonic.

ok cool. so I ask them and after telling me it's on backorder - yeah we know - i ask if there is any info on when it might ship and she said it is scheduled to ship on the 25th of June.

So that's where I'm at. Now I hope they can stick to that.


ps. (my order with panny direct was placed June 4)
 
I can live with that! My order also went through Shopatron and I ordered on June 4th as well! But it is also..so far...away. :( At least we have some idea when it is. I might call and have them change to next-day shipping.
 
i asked her about changing to next day shipping myself and she said it couldn't be changed because it was a backorder....I said, 'I don't understand' and she paused and seemed confused and so I just let her off the hook. but you can try.
 
Anyone else still have an order in with Amazon? I placed my order on May 14th, but still the ship date is not definite...
 
I got the June 25th date through my Shopatron order as well. I ordered the camera and the next day I actually got a call from Shopatron telling me it wouldn't ship until the 25th.

Were you in contact with panny prior? Was that the reason for them calling you? Just wondering if I should even bother calling in again to check on my status.

yea i was in contact with them. when i originally placed my order i
opted for free shipping. since its been taking so long for the cam to
go out i had called and asked them for 2 day shipping. the lady called
to confirm my ship and arrival date, and to let me know that the 2 day
shipping had been applied to my order.

i placed my order through Panny Direct on May 26th.
 
Well hopefully mine ships as well. I placed my order on the 23rd. I've been in contact with them and I haven't been able to get an estimated date. The bummer is that I paid Next Day shipping from the very get-go.

Where are you located Abstract?

btw...
when i called the other day to change my shipping, they told me the reseaon
my online order status page still showed pre-order was b/c theyv been having
issues with their system. if everything was working properly, my status would
have shown June 16th shipping. they said it would be fixed by next week

OK - there is one GH1 in Sweden now. It's sitting on my desk waiting for the battery to charge and me finishing work for today - bloody deadlines.
 
Well the research department got in touch with me this morning and all I can say is bad news....

After about 20 minutes of going back and forth, it turns out that I will not be receiving my May 23rd order for at least another two weeks. Apparently, since my ship and billing address were different(had it shipped to my work) my order was delayed. I found this kind of odd because I called about a week and a half ago to confirm addresses and everything, and they said it was clear and there were no flags on my order.

I then mentioned what some of you have been stating on here about it shipping off next week, and she said she has no clue about it shipping next week(keep in mind this woman is higher up in the chain) and that unfortunately "sometimes" their reps don't know what they're talking about. She then stated that availability won't probably be for another two weeks and that it would be July. She kept looking in their system for any stock to ship to me and there's nothing for another two weeks.

I then asked her if there's anything they could compensate for the inconvenience like lift the charges for my choice of next day shipping and she said unfortunately she couldn't do that as well.

After all this, I asked her if there was anything else she could do in regards to the order and she stated no....So I guess there it is fellas, we're left with another two weeks(July). She couldn't even give me a specific date......

obviously all of what shes telling you isnt true. people have already
gotten their cameras, and a few of us have em on the way.

i spoke to a manager the other day who confirmed a May 16th ship date. then
i spoke to someone from the actual warehouse to update my shipping from free
to 2 day, and they told me the 16th was 100% confirmed.

Abstract, let us know when you receive yours. Also, I just got a call from another rep and she's telling it's based off location and availability in that location.
