FS7: FS7 vs FS700 - Image quality?

What I am referring to has nothing to do with specs. I'm speaking strictly about the quality of material that my eyes have physically seen.

Having shot many projects with the fs700, I was eager when the fs7 was first announced. In doing some research I came across your videos Gene(any many others), and there was nothing I saw that compared to the organic image quality of the fs700/O7Q. If we are talking internal quality then yes, then yes without a doubt the fs7 is a big step up from its predecessor.

You know what? People just believe what they want to believe. Good luck with your FS700.

Please do not mistake my personal opinion with some kind of pompous camera bias, there is already plenty of that in this thread/forum. I do not own an fs700, it was sold many moons ago so I have no dog in this fight :) I get that you guys are passionate about your cameras and all, but some of the opinions in here are troubling. You can throw out all the specs & technical information you want, but at the end of the day the majority of examples out in the wild really do tell the story much better then any of our opinions.

Not really.

A million crap artists all using the same paintbrush does not mean the paintbrush has anything wrong with it.

I'm not passionate about cameras. I'm passionate about shooting.

Couldn't agree more, I merely stated that I have yet to see anything produced with the fs7 that stood up to some of the footage I've seen out of the fs700/O7Q. It could very well be that the volume of talented/skilled dp's are using one more than the other, I guess time will tell.

The FS700R+7Q+ is still my work horse...is it heavy fully kitted? yes. Is it a little unwieldy at times? sure. Are there newer/lighter/more featured cameras that exit today? of course BUT, I simply love the image I get from it. Especially for non 4K shoots, the supersampled 4K to HD is a dream. I've used the FS7 a handful of times and I think if you were recording to a 7Q+ the results are difficult to tell one from the other. I was hoping the internal stuff on the FS7 would outdo the FS700R+7Q+ but IMO it does not. For a camera as old as the FS700R it is a good thing that I'm still able to use it and it has paid for itself many times over. But that's just my .02...I'm sure some will disagree.
