First Sports Shoot

Tonight, I'm going down to a local basketball tournament and shooting with the hvx200a for the second time only. Can anybody suggest a good setting for a sharp sports look? I also need to mention the lighting in the stadium is pretty good. Cheers!

We've shot 720/24pN and 30.

We adjust white balance to account for lighting. Some people shoot 60 and can modify for slow motion in post.

I like 720/60p for sports, you can then use Panasonic's free Frame Rate converter tool for DVCProHD (its a free plug in for FCP, I don't know if its available for the PC) to convert the footage to 30p. This way you can switch to full 2.5x slow motion at any time.

Also if you're comfortable with pulling focus on the fly, I highly recommend memorizing some focus marks from your position (IE Free throw lines, baskets, each corner, top of the 3 point line, half-court) so that you can manually pull focus. This way when you zoom in things will be in focus most of the time.

Otherwise 60p or 60i have the most responsive auto focus settings.
