GH4 First look at 24p anamorphic & V-Log on GH4

I think we can consider VLOG, a decent in-camera curve editor, LUTS, or higher DR or raw as dead. It will be continually demonstrated as a beta, and then there will be an announcement "So sorry, but we need more powerful hardware to enable this feature, and we need to focus our development resources on the GH5 which will have this feature at release time "

We are now at most one year away from the GH5 release, so the developers have at most another month left to work on this camera; they need to shift to the new hardware.

I think GH4 users should contemplate a sidegrade to Blackmagic for better color science.

I think GH4 users should stay with what they have, while continuing to develop their art both in capture and post....

One can also tell viewers to adjust their expectations. In this vein many newspapers have fired their staff photographers and handed iPhones to their journalists.

I have to say, I don't like the look of any of the anamorphic stuff I've seen, but I don't think that has anything to do with the camera.

The anamorphic stuff is very nice, but it's definitely a minority interest. As for Vlog, that would be of everyday use; however at this point I don't think anymore that it will be released for the GH4. Clearly a NAB announcement had been intended and was cancelled.

That's a drastic conclusion Edmund. Those in the know seem to suggest it is coming eventually. I mean they let these guys release the videos espousing how great it is. They would know it would cause a severe backlash to allow teasing like this to go on. For the record I'm very, very excited about V-log. I have 1.5 X anamorphics so this anamorphic modes a bit meh for me. What I have always disliked about the Gh4 and other Panasonic cameras is the highlight rendition and the crushing of the shadows in a very unnatural way - V-log deals with this. And the colours seem better as well.

Why oh why hasn't someone released a small affordable box - no monitor - that can do 4k to prores - or did I miss something? Like a BM hyperdeck shttle but 4k

Great, they have it working... and the reason this won't be available in the next firmware is... what exactly?

Two version of V-Log? V-Log L and this V-Log Gamma?

EDIT: Proof of V-Log L, so definitely two versions (unless it's a beta name change difference?)
