did you stream or download? I recommend that you download it, cause I can not see what you mean in the "better" quality version:costumed-smiley-047 hehe

Nice to see that you finally got your sgpro :)
What is your zoom number at? Looks like your getting a little bit of vignetting.

how did you mount your dvx so that it sits over the rails.

I just got mine the other day but i couldnt find a way to get the horizontal alignment

right without moving that plate to the back of the rails.

I'm in love with it alerady:)

That is actually something I wanted to ask you about.
I don't know how much I can zoom in. And I haven't "locked" the zoom so I keep bumping into the zoom when I record..
any tips?

and is there a way to set the zoom number digitally?

and Oedipax:
I know, there are some different "versions".
And I just taped the battery adapter onto the side:P
Didn't know where to put it so. I don't really mind though:)

Sory for double posting.
Anyways.. I had to remove the 4 bolts/screws that were already in the "thing" that held the mid section of the two rails. There are I think, 8 holes there, and then just use the ones that seem logical.. sorry.. that was a messed up explanation.. best I could do.. If you still have a problem then you can PM me and I can take some pictures to explain..

I usually set the zoom number by using the zoom on top of the DVX rather than the servo rocker. I have it set to the slowest zoom mode, and with that, you can easily go through the Z numbers one at a time until you get where you want. I leave it in servo mode so it's not likely to get bumped, although sometimes I do bump the focus and have to readjust that. I think Smettli tapes his down with gaff tape, it's not a bad idea.

As for figuring out a good zoom number, the best thing is to just find something like an evenly lit, bright wall and shoot some test footage. You might just record yourself saying: "Z70... Z71... Z72..." and so on, through parts of your range. Then look at it in your NLE and figure out a good place. I usually keep mine around Z77. Sometimes it depends on the lens you're using, so be sure to try it with your whole kit.

i use velcro to keep the battery pack on the side of my unit.

Good idea!

Tommetass: I have my zoom set to Z78, simply because thats the closest I can zoom in and still being able to focus on the GG(first version dvx has a more limited focus). When setting up my unit I set my focus on "manual"(not servo) and zoom in to z78 and then I duct tape both the zoom and focus ring like a crazy person and then I set the focus on the GG with Timur's autofocus technic. I would say that taping down the zoom and focus rings is alpha omega, just imagine being on a stressed shoot were a lot of money is at stake and you are running around with(in my case) a crappy 7" lcd monitor which isnt very sharp, and then you bump against your zoom or focus ring but you cant see the picture change because of the soft lcd monitor. You come home and see that 80% of your footage is out of focus and you slit your wrists in agonizing frustration. Not the way to go in my opinion :)

Give us some pics, it’s very nice to see a nice pice like the DVX al taped up.
But I will also beef it up for sure when the SGpro knocks at the door. :)

Honestly, who cares what the cam looks like, when watching the movie = none.

gaff thoes rings down.... gaff em right the hell down..... and use gaff not duct.....

Or you can do like I did. Tip your tripod over so the camera smashes into the ground. This causes your heart to stop for a couple of seconds and your focus ring will be harder to turn. Perhaps not a foolproof technique but i no longer need to tape down the focusring.
