Fire!

Sorta sucks actually, you're better without. Trying to decide in 10 minutes what to save from a decade of living in your house causes a kind of stress you never really get used to.

Living in the foothills i know several people that own systems similar to this:

I'm 100 yards from the Angeles National Forest so having everything covered with soot and flames shooting up around you is something you plan for - or move - but you never get used to it.

Why doesn't anything cool like that happen here in Ohio!?

hey Bman.. im up in canada at the moment and heard the fires were near you. stopped in to see if you are ok? my wife is in-touch with me from san diego and it is really a mess down there. smoke all the way to the ocean. they think that this fire will do more damage than the ceder fire that burnt 2500 homes 4 years ago. hope you and your family are well dude.. be careful... mother nature can kick some serious ass.

It kinda puts things into perspective, doesn't it? You really gotta appreciate the guys who go and fight those fires.

Quick update for today:

Last night I got into my house. I stayed up all night. At about 2AM a big flair up happened, and a tree caught on fire... the high winds wouldn't allow me to do anything about it, but luckily the FD came and got it out... I was covered in ash and soot. Then I stayed awake... I got to sleep at 5:30AM. I slept until 8:30AM. Got into work at about 10:30AM. My car still smells like fire... but it looks as if it's moved pretty far away from our house now. :)

I heard that Arnold has announced official evacuation instructions...
