I plead the 5th.

it's very flattering you put the most ugly face in the history of the world against MY REAL face... i'll work on making a dumber expression..

Don't feel bad... I sometimes look like Sloth when I wake up after a prolonged shoot. Or this:

All very nice people.... despite some bad hair days.

I like the new features of the GH2, but I see codec break-up & nasty blockiness in the shadows on footage I've viewed of it. I'm keeping my GH13 for now, but would like a GH2 strictly for low-light shots, or if it gets hacked - even better!

I agree... but I'm proba just going to skip the GH2 and go to the AF-100... but even it has aliasing still and some artifacting... BUT.. it has hd-sdi out.

I'm sorry, I remember you wanted these, and for the life of me I can't find my file now... is there a way to extract it again from the camera without doing another ptool update? If you go into the hack thread I simply used the 'jobless D' settings and I am using all transcend class 10 32 gig cards and a few 16 gig cards.

This seems to contradict all of this ranting and especially if it's from a Canon website.. I think we'll be seeing a lot of GH13's for sale, if this delivers this will all of the additional features. The monitoring alone was the reason I couldn't ever consider a GH1... Good times,, good times

That article was basically useless..... it doesn't cover anything I have talked about here and the author actually says "First a disclaimer - image quality isn't everything."

As soon as someone says that I stop reading. Image quality is exactly what it comes down to for tech talk.... this forum is not about story and acting.... go to the acting and script forums if you want to talk about how your movie is still great because the story is so powerful that blurry blocky images with mud don't matter.

The GH2 most probably will be great - for certain shots... but by no means get rid of your GH1.3....as I have said time and time and time again.... 24mbits is JUST NOT ENOUGH SPACE to handle high detail high motion. God why do people think I am such a nutball? You people are going to be in for a big surprise when you shoot anything that is not on your tripod and a flower.... or a wide tracking shot on a moving dolly with lots of extras. Get ready for the mud. A lot less mud than the GH1 - but mud none the less.

Mark my words. I WISH it weren't so but it is on what I saw on the actual camera and all the footage I have dled so far.

Buy your GH2... and use it for lock down shots, but keep your GH13 for the tough stuff that needs the space.

Noirist - yes. exactly. d) Gives you Overall bit rate : 37.4 Mbps
Maximum Overall bit rate : 56.0 Mbps

Video bitrate adjustment - d)50000000
Overall bitrate adjustment - d)56000000
Limiting bitrate adjustment - d)60000000

24pn checked.

no mud on first frame... no issues with 24pn....

Lock up once in a very very very long rare while.

Again you are off base. I have the HMC150 and 24mbits works fine for virtually everthing. Time to take off the top hat and stop drinking the koolaid. But it'll all come out in the wash and his opening statment is not to be a contention but a caveat. I wonder if that's something that sumes up your entire gist on this.... I believe so.

I also for one wouldn't ever want a camera that's 100 percent reliable.... and that's the case with the hack. People have reported issues and that's just acceptable for professional work... it's so gimecky and certainly leads one to speculate. If you do have a 100 percent reliable camera than that's awesome, but for so many others that's the not the case.... We'll all see what ends up..

Personally I"M opting for a proper video camera as well... the AF100 will a new workhorse and certainly eliminate a bit of the kitchen sink that is required to work with a DSLR. The Gh2 though will be a decent B camera, crash cam, low-key option...

Ok.

Let me see. How can I say this again.

I shot with the GH2. I shot very difficult stuff.
The GH1.3 hacked handled it. The GH2 got mud and issues in areas.
It can be seen and confirmed on MANY native downloadable clips available on the net.
If you bought a GH2 and can't handle this plain fact, and want to throw insults at me because you must believe that Panasonic released the miracle camera because you spent money. Fine.

There are plenty of other people in this thread who confirmed exactly what I saw who I have no ties to whatsoever. We didn't drink acid laced kool aid.... (although if you can tell me where to score some I'm down), we don't have any reason to defend the GH1.3 and want the GH2 to have issues.. this is not a Canon fan boy vs. Panasonic fan boy type of thing.

I am just telling you what I saw with the camera I used, and what I saw on the footage I downloaded. That's that. I shouldn't be attacked or insulted for reporting my findings. Take it with a grain of salt and go do the same tests yourself.

Maybe they delayed and fixed everything.

The HMC150 has a COMPLETELY different encoder than the GH2 and is a completely different camera optically and encoding wise... I don't think you can extrapolate GH2 info from HMC150 info... but so be it.

GH1.3 will be kept. GH2 will be toyed with. AF-100 will be bought.
