Finally...consumer cam, 120fps, 720p

...and did I mention the LX7 has timelapse as well. Let me see, I believe the LX7 is the only camera costing less than 5k that shoots 1080/60 , 720/120, timelapse, as well as has an internal 3 stop ND filter ..and it shoots 1080 in mpeg too . I'd sure like tester13 to work his little miracle on this pocketrocket.

Sick stuff for sure! I too would love to see a hacked version of this little beauty. So. Many. Great. Options. LX7 should be a pocketcinematography BEAST!

Does the LX7 or FZ200 lens have filter threads? No info in the link except for a brief reference to an LX7 "filter adaptor".
Ken

Sounds like the adaptors made for my old canon 720is point and shoot...a round tube with threads at front that mounts to the body enclosing the extended lens inside. Pretty unwieldly.
Ken

....can't vouch for my memory, or the accuracy of the report...but I remember seeing it, and it looked like a step-up adapter in one of the announcements ...thereby allowing a small variable nd along with the internal , as well as others, like a #25 for b&w

This. Just like LX5.

....as I said...first one to post some 720/120 footage gets the prize. There's nothing mentioned about recording qualities. I was disappointed in the time lapse feature , which obviously states individual frames would not be assembled in camera and will reserve opinion on the sweep panorama feature ...both of which useful .

  1. Bummer! No manual shutter speed and aperture adjustment during 120fps mode!!

Hello everyone,
I am not an expert about camera options, I am always looking for a camera to record golf swings and the LX7 with the 720p 120fps would be perfect, except for the "shutter speed automatically adjusted", which could make the clubhead in the downswing very blurry. Can anyone explain how the automatic shutter speed works? Is the camera trying to use the fastest speed that can give good results based on the lighting conditions?

I don't have an LX7, but the shutter must be at least 1/120 when it's recording true 720p120. The club head will certainly be very blurry at that shutter speed, but the person should be sharp enough that you can analyze and critique their form.

Maybe I'm misinformed but shouldn't the shutter speed be about twice the frame rate for good slow mo?
Maybe that's only if you're slowing wth Twixtor

People typically use a 1/60 shutter for 30 fps but I don't think there's a general rule for higher frame rates. My only point was: at 120fps you can be sure the shutter speed can't be slower than 1/120, but it could be faster (eg., 1/240).
