FEATURE: "feature: Quinn"

Thanks OldCorpse, hopefully the world will see your project soon, I will keep an eye out for it. :) Thank you for the kind words.

Trying to get a good look out of the scarlet, i imagine that it's probably me not the camera, but i noticed that the Scarlet has a very digital look to it that i can't control. I came across these two comments on a 2012 blog about the digital look of the scarlet.

"There's just a soul to epic footage and an organic quality which adds richness and body that the scarlet won't ever be able to replicate. An Epic image is alive and full of life and a scarlet is digital and sterile. /s"

"I can confirm 100% on my end that 5k Red Epic footage looks much much different than 4k Red Scarlet footage, also if you use 3K slow-motion footage than the difference is even larger. This is coming from someone who Edits Red Footage and without knowing which camera it was shot on I can just tell".

Day 26/27

Day 26/27

The challenges on this shoot doing the night car scenes were not enough available light to get a good exposure, when i bumb up the iso i run into problems in the blue channel. Comments are welcomed on how to improve these shots. Thanks. Scarlet used with Red zoom pro 18-50.

Shoot Day

Shoot Day

Haven't posted in a while.. I will post the previous shoots. I'm realizing on this shoot how important it is to have a good MUA who uses HD make-up.

Grading is still a challenge, hopefully soon it will improve. For now, enjoy mediocrity.

Challenges on this shoot were no DP, GRiPS or GAffer. Keeping an eye on the lighting was very difficult because I was pulling focus and operating the camera on the slider and Directing the scene. Used 2 kino flo parabeams 400W and 2 arri 300W with overhead practicals.

Drew, amazingly ambitious with such skeletal crew! Bravo! With production days interspersed like that, a blog is what can really keep fans engaged - enough time to write on non-production days - challenges of doing this on very skinny resources with minimal crew is a story in itself. I guess FB is another way, but not everyone does FB, and the format is not always ideal. Anyhow you should get Liam Neeson to do a 10 second cameo for union scale, just for the heck of it :)

thanks, and your right about Liam Neeson, It would be the ideal situation for this project. Maybe cut a trailer and reach out to his Agent with it. For now I will concentrate on STORY and CHARACTERS until the quality gets better. Also will need some better GLASS for this project.

Last weekend's Shoot

Last weekend's Shoot

playing with a few screen grabs from last weekends shoot. Challenges on this shoot were video noise (blue channel) from the camera and my lighting skills are still very poor. Staying at 800 iso but maybe that is too high for scarlet.

Our deadline to finish project is by Dec 2015, but who knows, lead actress just broke her foot and is in a cast. Film is 60% shot.

Wow. Gotta give you credit for persistence. That's how you have to be sometimes.

Good luck with the rest. We'll be cranking up a new feature soon.

After we handle fests and distribution for #blackhats which premieres soon (as seen in another thread).
