Hey Y'all. I am pretty new at posting on DVXuser but wanted to share my experience about our new project. Doing a female version of the movie "Taken" (with Liam Neeson) . I am an actor who is learning all about this film making stuff. I wanted to thank all the talented individuals on dvx user who posted amazing experiences that I have learned from. All the choices I have made with what camera to buy, recorders and etc was because of all the information I received from this site. Thank you all! photos are coming.

synopsis:
When a ruthless group of human traffickers invade a nearby town and kidnap a teenage girl, a former military mother must find her before she disappears for good.

Feel free to "like" our facebook page if you like what you see. thanks.

at this point I am doing the lighting, Directing, Camera and everything. I am teaching my roommate to do the sound. I am also one of the lead actors in the movie. There is no budget, everything is coming out of my own pocket. The crew and I eat subway when we shoot. The crew we are using are two actor friends from acting class. So far, we will only be shooting twice a month because of the lack of locations available.

I bought about 6 arri lights. 5x 300 watts and 1x150 watt. I am also learning about exposure, white balance and lighting. If anyone has any good constructive criticism or feedback would be nice. I want to get better. I am experiencing a lot of trial and error.
The project is Sag low budget. We are still looking for a lead actress for this project. We are shooting other scenes until we find her. There is no script. I am writing as I go.

Day 4 - DONE!

Day 4 - DONE!

Thank you to our cast and crew for such a great shoot day. Crew - Jonathan Andrew Holborn, Rob Amberry, Lisa Kim and Ashley Tyne. Actress - Ashley Maimes.
Directed by ME.

So far, we are still shooting once a month. HORRIBLE. I want to get into a rhythm of shooting once a week. I am still learning how to do a decent grade in Davinci.

DAY 8 - screen grabs

DAY 8 - screen grabs

We finished DAY 8, GOSSIP GIRL scene. It is good to work with actors who are easy to Direct.

At this time we have no grips, no gaffer, no cam op, no AD'S, no DP, no producers. I am teaching my rooommate how to do the sound boom and recorder. I am using actors from a local church to help to be PA's and help to move the lights around. Everything takes a little bit longer on set but it is all we have right now. Work with what you have I guess. I might have mentioned this in an earlier post.
