Face of Fear | A Pixel!nk Production

Finally got some time to do the color while the film is out for sound.

For the most part I went simple. Mostly a contrast crush, mild desaturation of all but the red channel and a little bluegreen filter.
 
Amazing poster and your color work looks fabulous... subtle but really nice. The whole production looks quite impressive!
 
Done and Done.

All uploaded and now the waiting process begins. This was a fun experience. Thank You to everyone for the friendly welcome to the site.

Thanks Jason. I wish everybody luck in their films. Gonna make a night of screenings for watching all of the films and enjoy the hard work we all did here on fiction fest. Been too busy here at work to keep up to date with what is going on with the submissions. Last I heard deadline was 4:00, hope everybody made it in on time

He's been busy lately with a number of things. He unfortunately couldn't make it to the set. He was behind the scenes breaking down the script, call sheets, contracts, etc., and most helpful of all he got the SAG paperwork through. I wish he could have been there on the set though, anyone who has worked with him on set knows he's the grease in the gears keeping things turning. Hopefully on the next fest he can be there on the set, and I promise I'll get a statement from him on the BTS then.
 
Im going over these fairly superficially the moment so to not add spoilers for others. Initial reaction - very good. Good work.
 
Wow! That was awesome!

**SPOILERS-ISH**

I was wondering why she kept waking up in the same spot, in the same position. The reveal at the end was great! I did NOT see it coming, and I really like the way you used the lights in the room (actual room, not hers) to kind of "blind" her with bright lights. This really was a great piece.
 
I care about story more than anything else. I've read and seen thousands of shorts and often I can see the end coming from the start. Your story kept me guessing until the very end and that ending is fantastic - I loved it. Where did you get the idea for that?

Your actress is very good and her fear, dread, and confusion were palpable. Even the voices were great and I especially loved the way those external voices grew clearer as the mystery unraveled.

Having seen your BTS, I think you did a great job with your set and really made the most of it. You really established a great mood and tone.

My only thought/suggestion is that the bat felt a tiny bit forced - I didn't imagine a woman like this in an environment like that keeping a bat under the bed. I know the bat was a requirement, but I think it might have been cool if she actually beat at the glass with her fists, but that is a very small suggestion for a great film.

I really loved this. The transformation into the end was perfect and that ending will stay with me for a long time.
 
Very cool. Unfortunately I saw the ending coming.
It was either the Twilight Zone or Are You Afraid of the Dark. I think it was the latter.
They did a woman trapped in a painting with the reveal at the end.

Twilight Zone did something similar as well actually.
As soon as I heard them talking I knew what was going on.

It was still really well put together and I loved the actress.
Nicely done.
 
Hah, I liked this one. When she broke the fake window I thought you took my TZ story idea where the person turns out to be a pet. When the guy talked and the hand shadow went across the window I was sure you did. :) Then she was hidden in the picture. Don't worry Twilight Zone did just about everything. The bat thing did look real. Great work.
 
Thanks a lot guys. Really makes me happy to hear all of these kind comments. We jumped in late into the game and it's great to hear we were still able to affect some of you. Since there are already spoilers in here I'll be a little more open now, but one of the biggest challenges was to really try to keep this second illusion story a reality as long as possible so nobody would see the ending coming... But some of you are too good ;) ha ha.

Great job on this film! Looked really good and the actress had me believing her fear. I too am from the TZ generation, so I knew what was coming about two minutes into it, but didn't bother me one bit.
I wondered about the editing and the breaks in the film...felt a little too long and almost made it more theatre-ish to me...like the acts of a play. The only thing that bugged me was when she first picks up the phone and we hear the 'phone off the hook' sound, it doesn't go away when she plays with the hook switch (sorry, my father was with New York Telephone for over 32 years... I know WAY too much about the old phones).

Camera work & movement, sound design, makeup, VFX...everything was very well done. You should all be proud of this film!

I was hoping to be more intrigued than I was. I do give you high marks for the unique ending. I wish somehow the story had been a bit better than it was. I just couldn't get into it. I couldn't get into the music. I dunno. It first felt to me like one of the "thriller" type of shorts smothered in paranoia. Easy to do with just a single person acting. I would have liked more layers. The bat too bugged me. It was okay overall. Without the ending it would have fallen into shallower waters.
