a test between those 2 lenses would be amazing. i love what ive seen from this noktor so far, i actually really like the low saturation/contrast characteristics of the lens, as a starting point at least.

Seb,
Good to see you at work again and to watch your ever patient and helpful petite assistant growing up. And thank you for the videos. There is much there to enjoy.
My main issue with the lens is its color rendition. I played with the lens for several hours and while some video footage looked great, a lot of it looked "washed out". I seemed to notice a similar effect in your footage. It also didn't respond too well in the ETC mode.
The Olympus on the other hand, although substantially more expensive, makes the images pop, big time. I put it down to their experience with lens coating. And it performs very well in ETC mode and of course will provide auto focus if required. I seemed at times to struggle with focus on the SLR lens.
Having said that, the SLR lens comes in at a more palatable price point and the non distorting optics are indeed a marvel. Add two additional stops over the Olympus and I believe many will be happy. I'm passing however for the first reason I mentioned.
Best wishes,
Jurek
Have you done any side by side testing of these two lenses?
I just tried the Oly manualy, and the Noktor is a third part lens so only manualThe Olympus 12mm f2 is reputedly fully automatic with near telepathic face recognition. This is cheaper but is this one fully automatic on the GH2 bodies?
Same here, this has become a Must_Have apparatus. Love the Stranglers cut.WOW!
I'm in.
I see nothing yet on B&H?
Usually they post before having stock.
I'd love to see some side by sides between the Olympus and the SLRmagic.... I'm torn cause each have advantages. I would like to be able to use this on the steadicam so the autofocus is nice.... atleast till I get a wireless follow focus.
In EU and US the lens will be SLR Magic HyperPrime 12mm F1.6 with a SLR Magic black ring. (TBA. around End November or December)Yes, where to buy in US?, B&H? , when?

That noktor 50mm .95 looks pretty interesting too but it's a grand and I still would rather have the Nokton 25mm... but it's nice too see more manual lenses coming out. I for one plan on buying this when it's in stock.
I posted a very quick snippet online here using this lens.
