What does anyone else think of this: The festival rules say no showing any actual footage of the film prior to the festival, but it says nothing of sharing any of the script. I'm considering showing an additional page every week or two until the submission deadline, which would put me at having the last page or so unseen ...

Thought it'd be a fun way for folks to check back to the thread every week or so to see where the next page lead in the story, and then to build up to the end, only to find it out by seeing the movie. Also might be interesting for those that had read the script up to that point to see how we laid it out on the screen for them compared to how they imagined it?

Great, look for it by 9pm tonight ... I'll revamp one of the opening posts to be the updated 'peek at script' section. :thumbsup:
 
Man. I am so tempted to read, but I don't know if I want to. I could sure use the benefit of looking at some folks script, but I kinda wanna not know too much about the films going in, so I can try to be as much an audience member for them as possible.

I feel like I'm being asked to eat the apple

Norm, great idea on the script "leak." Clever. Funny how you have a character named Eric. We have an Eric in our script as well. He is the lead guy. Is yours? :)

I wonder how many people will have fun with their credits?

I.E.
Norm "Eric" Sanders - Director
Dan "Eric" Ayers - DP
Justin "Eric" Durban - Composer
etc.

Kind of like the fun credit you see for Halloween episodes of THE SIMPSONS, etc. :grin:

Actually Ted, I was somewhat forced to have the guy be Eric vs. the girl being Erica, because I didn't want Rebecca's resume to have the same character name twice in a row! Yeah, I know, always thinking of others. I'm a giver. It's what I do. LOL.

Mark, I'm very interested to read your guys' script when it's ready (that trade), as I'm curious to see where you'll be utilizing effects.
 
Norm, that is very kind of you to consider Rebecca's career. I hope that you story benefits from the change. Nothing like an accidental fortune!

And I love the idea about the credits though I don't think we'll even have time to do them for the festival piece. That 6 minute line is tough!

PS - I love the location on your avatar! That's great. I lived in Portland, OR for 4 years. Jantzan Beach still around? Last time I was there (1984) there were a lot of changes going on.

Damn.... 1984! Wow! How old am I????

Hey Ted, I didn't move out here until 1990 (still in HS in 1984 in Hermiston, OR), but there has been a TON of changes to the whole area. Coincidentally, I was just at Jantzen Beach yesterday with Rebecca's husband helping pick out a home theater system for them. Always fun when it's not your own money you're spending!
 
Exciting new for TRINITY RIVER, which should also be impacting this short. I just got off the phone with Michael Jones (IMDB), who's highly respected in the area as an indie Producer/Line Producer. He's set his bar at only working with films that are budgeted at $500K+, but after reading the script for TR and an initial meeting that went well between us, he's decided he'd like to be involved. We meet again this Friday morning to finalize details, set/clarify mutual expectations, etc.

Needless to say, I'm stoked.

How this ties into "Where Silence Falls", is that I'm asking all key crew of TR to come & do this short as well, as an opportunity to work together in advance, etc. He's aware I'd like him to be 1st AD, and said he'll 'think about it'. Since that's what he said about TR as well until today, I've just gone ahead and updated the first post with him as 1st AD now, lol. :evil:
 
Yeah, I was shooting for an April production schedule, but will likely have to crank it up to first of March now to accomodate for Michael's schedule ... which will add a fair amount of pressure to me on the fund raising end of it! I don't know why, but I've got a peace about raising six figures for this ... part of me thinks I'm insane & delusional for thinking it, the other is just confident it'll come together. :)
