Envision & RebeccaD Present "Where Silence Falls"

Thanks Tommy, I'm really looking forward to DramaFest, perhaps more than any of the others, because it strips away a lot of what many of us have relied on with the past with cool FX, sound FX, etc.

To me, DramaFest will kind of take everything back to the basics to really focus more on story, character, etc. .... which if you look back at the films that have won the past fests, they had those down quite well, but I think more films as a whole will be focusing on that, which should hopefully make this an excellent fest.

Interestingly enough, R.E.M. had little to no focus on any of that stuff that really matters, and still did well enough with a good performance by Rebecca, sound design that was rec'd favorably along with score, and camera work.
 
Hey Norm, I agree. I thing that filmmaking has to have drama to it. But those are the types of films I want to do, so I'm biased!

I think R.E.M. actually had a cool story line to it. It was very clever... :beer:

That was a good one, Norm... you actually had my head spinning there for a moment.

I must say that I was surprised to begin with that we were going to get to have a look at your scripts. Oh, well.

As for your shooting schedule... sounds like you've allotted more time for this one than you did on R.E.M.!!! :grin:

And Rebecca.... watch out for Mark... :evil: !!!

I'm going to start off all my posts to you by saying "Norm!" It reminds me of Cheers... :cheesy:

So... Norm! How's your short coming along? Any updates? :)
 
Hey thanks, Tommy! Never heard that one before ('Norm!"). :grin: Actually, not a bad show to be related to by that name fashion, as it was a great show.

No real updates yet. Rebecca's been slammed with her move, and with the holidays & such, it's been a little slow. The script, we believe, is absolutely solid, so there shouldn't be any changes there.

We will have a casting update soon, so I'll update that, hopefully in the next few days. We'll also have a pre-production meeting with the 1st AD, DP, etc. probably in the second or third week of December, as we're not shooting until the second weekend of January.
 
They're not moving too far from their existing house, just closer into 'civilization'. :grin: Actually, they'll only be about five minutes from our family now, further up the hill with a pretty phenomenal view of the city, river, mountains. *In Napolean Dynamite voice* LUCKY!
 
Oh! Are we talking about the views of the Northwest? Wow! I love it up there!

My favorite view is from Washington Park in Portland looking towards Mt. Hood.

God, I love that view.

"Hey, Norm, how's it goin'?" Okay, enough Cheers. I haven't looked in for awhile so I had plenty to read. I really llke your poster. It's going to be interesting to see what you come up with this time around.
 
Yeah, Mt. Hood is a REAL pretty view to behold, for sure. If I'm not mistaken, they don't have a view of Hood, as it's on the other side of the hill from them, but they do have a view of the Portland City lights, Columbia River, Portland International Airport, and Mount St. Helens ... the volcano that blew its top 25+ years ago, and is now completely covered in snow.

Their house, however, looks like crap inside, lol (sorry, Rebecca). They've been having it remodeled before moving in, which I helped some over the weekend ... but I'm sure by this weekend it'll be looking awesome. Seriously a very nice place. Heading over tonight to help hook up the theater system I pressured her husband into buying. :thumbsup:
 
They thanks, Blaine! I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing what you think of this story, as I know you're big on that ... and we feel pretty strongly about this one. Oh, and there will be no butchering of it to fit it into the timeline like we did with SPARROW, lol. Start to finish, I'm hoping we can keep it at five minutes or less, but knowing we have a minute buffer is nice as well.
 
I actually need to watch your other festival entries... I joined right before HorrorFest came together, so I've got some catching up to do... :)

Yeah, Blaine's got a great talent for storytelling. :)
 
Casting Update!

Casting Update!

We've cast our third & final character for the film with Reid Phillips, which those of you who have seen the full cut of SPARROW will remember him as the THUG in the opening Alley scene/fight sequence.

I hadn't wanted to mention this in advance, specifically if I didn't get the role as it'd be quite embarrassing, but I was planning to audition for Ryan Walters' film (SEMELE), and had already decided if I landed the role that I would automatically cast the other male that was in his film in mine also. I thought it would be interesting to have two films, made by two different filmmakers, feature the same exact cast in completely different roles/characters.

SHOULD BE FUN!!
 
Oh, and for SPARROW, Tommy, I'd suggest just borrowing Blaine's copy so you can see the full cut vs. any short version we may have had for the fest ... short version just doesn't do it justice. Anyway, borrowing Blaine's assuming you guys see each other. I mean, LA's not really that big, right? :)
 
Yeah, I see Blaine every now and then. I'm going to help crew on a project that him and Kevin are working on, so I'll be sure to mention it to him... and he doesn't exactly live in LA... lol... more like an hour and a half drive!

And having the exact same cast is very interesting... can't wait to see them both now! :)

I'm looking forward to it Norm! This should be an interesting experiement - as well as fun projects to work on :beer: !
