Emotions, crazy requests, donation messages go HERE

First I want to thank all involved for this incredible tool! I took the plunge and am very happy.
My prime wish would be the audio department: since audio encoding above 192k makes playback of video inside camera impossible, maybe have a look at some improvements? And what about more audio controls? I successfully managed to adapt my Sennheiser radio mic set but sound quality and volume control plus the included comp/limiter and overall audio quality could see some improvements if possible.

I would love to have an option to switch the in camera sharpening and edge enhancement completely off. Even "SMOOTH/Sharpening -2" looks way oversharpened to me.

Ok time for my crazy idea, not video, but picture related

Since the gh1 is an oversized 4/3 sensor, that has different crop modes for picture 4/3/16/9,3/2,etc.. could you make a mode to use the full size of the sensor? call it vignetting mode or something, since it might vignette a little

by the way i would also appreciate a SD mode if we could get 120fps for slow mo purposes

Indeed, I'd love to use my LOMO anamorphic lenses as they were designed without the need to crop the 16x9 image.

I understand the need to segment the discussions to 'settle the noise' but I'm concerned about donations. We don't know how financial or unfinancial the 'pool' is and if it's not in their face - people forget.

Is it possible to create a seperate thread where the 1st post shows the up-to -date total & the next purchase and people can reply with how much they've donated - sort of like a telethon

"Hi I'm Paul & I donated $50"

If it's a sticky in the GH1 firmware hack subforum, everyone can see it and quickly see how much we've got and what we need to buy next.

just an idea....

Feature request / suggestion:

when choosing H or L AVCHD in the camera (the steps are FHD, SH, H, L), from my tests its a little different from SH now, after the patch, so I guess they are also using the same values of the AVCHD with some multiply values...

I think it will be good idea to find this multiply values and patch them so one can have option to have "low quality" setting to simple stuff that don't need top quality.

I would like a way to disable the ability to adjust shutter speed. On more than one occasion when shooting in Creative Movie Mode using Manual exposure I've turned the dial to adjust exposure and have adjusted shutter speed instead.

In this area, the GH1 is far less intuitive than the Canon cameras, which allow you to customize buttons with far greater control. In my case, when using a 7D, I set my shutter to 1/50 then disable my ability to adjust it by reprogramming the button.

I want AVCHD FHD 50i be real 50 fields .I have tested gh13 FHD 50i video on broadcast TV monitor .Its different between normal TVcam hd video , I would like to see the GH1 be able to shoot REAL PAl or N video with clean fields. It is valueble to do.

I have been reading about this great hack for weeks, it's like an addiction to get up and hop on the forum and see what has been achieved by Tester 13 overnight. Making my donation within the hour to show my support for your good work. It feels like you're on the precipice of unleashing the power of the DSLR beyond all our imaginations--so please be patient with our greedy requests for More NOW. This is so much fun to watch--I hope to be using it for myself by the end of the day and testing everything I can think of to help you out in ways I can. LIVE view HDMI, please.
Thanks so much.

I'm so happy that there is development of firmware tweaks. I thank all those who are making an effort to make Panasonic cameras better. Though I don't use my GF1 for video capture that much, other improvements of options concerning camera function would make the camera worth twice as much.

1) I would really like to see improvements to the GF1 "Auto Bracketing" feature. Preferably to achieve (-2..0..+2)EV using 3 exposures. I've noticed that the time that passes by while taking the 7 exposures needed to span the +2/-2EV is too long especially while trying to photograph (slowly) moving objects.

2) There is a 256 second limit for bulb exposures using a remote. It would be helpful if this could be adjusted, or simply modified to represent a higher number.

3) One thing that I would think would be great to have, though I'm not sure how one could implement it within the current firmware structure would be support for time lapse or interval exposure controls.

I've made a donation a while ago, and was hoping to find out if some of my crazy requests would be possible to achieve. I'd be happy to donate more if there are any serious prospects or even knowing if my suggestions are feasible or completely bonkers.
I'd also be willing to donate my time as well for this cause, but I'm not sure how helpful I'd be only having a mild-moderate level of computer programming under my belt. I'd be willing to dust out the cobwebs of my brain if I could assist any. I just wouldn't know where to start.

Perfect!

My crazy request is for nyczSZx who made the nice Tester13 GH13 banner to add some text in it that says "Donate to the cause" and the banner is linked to the donate page then everyone should put it in their sigs and email it to the gh1 people you know on other forums. It's a great way to support Tester13 and make awareness of the hack.

This is the banner I was talking about:

I went to donate this morning and had to spend far too much time hunting down the link. In addition to your banner idea, I think at least one of the stickies should have the donate link in the first post: http://www.gh1-hack.info/

need improve M-JPEG's audio sampling rate

M-JPEG's audio sampling rate is 16kHz , this is bad .

AVCHD's audio sampling rate is 48kHz .

How about enabling the (EZ) extended optical zoom in movie mode? It seems strange that it available for stills but not video.

Donated. If you're reading this... enjoying the firmware hack, and this forum... and haven't yet donated... Do the right thing.

Thanks Vitaliy (and those helping him with the advancements).

The biggest reason I would want this is to be able to use a lot of c mount lenses without vignette. That would be very cool.

Guys, try to think about it.
How do you want to magnify image that is already in proper resolution?
It won't work.
Today sensors are not capable to transfer RAW 14Mp image at even 24fps.

Vitaliy, is there any hope for an alternative approach mentioned by Barry a while back in the main thread? http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showpost.php?p=2028213&postcount=2658

Vitaliy, here's something to consider on the AVCHD 1080/24p->720/24p patch: we know that currently it's just extracting the upper-left quadrant, cropping that to 720p and done. A user named "VideoDSLR" has suggested that you explore trying to instead extract just the center of the image instead of the upper-left, without scaling. By doing so, it might make many more c-mount lenses usable without vignetting.
