Aerial Video and Photography--with RC Helicopter

Guys,

I have been working on Aerial video and Photography for the past year and half and finally put together a product. Aerial HD video and Photography. Probably another 6 months to a year, I can start shooting 16mm and 35mm film with another investment of a even larger heli.

New York Aerial Photography

These are not shot HD, but I should have some up very soon.

thats cool.

i kind of liked it when you could see the helicopter's shadow in the snow...

i would also like to see how you set this up.

Having just shot from a helicopter this week myself for the first time, I was simply inspired by your beautiful videography. So smooth. Loved the shot of the church steeple, with its shadow right behind it- wow were you close! (and I saw the heli shadow for a brief sec!)

Yes, I, too, would be interested in, you guessed it, your set-up.
Thanks for sharing.

I noticed in several of your shots you are flying directly over a highway and also people. Isn't that awfully dangerous?

Hey, Guys

Sorry for the delay in reply. Didn't realize there's some feed back about our helicam, first time user. Most of the footage are made with a mini helicopter and was shot with Digital cameras with video capability. We now are shooting with 2 helicopter that flys with Mini HDV 1440x1080 and 1920x1080 direct caputre and have had done quite a some jobs with this setup. have had done quite a few jobs with this setup. Will remove all the current videos soon and replace with HDV in a few weeks. We are currently working on another heli that will be able to carry HVX200 and 16mm film cam. We are base out of New York and do travel if you guys have projects that requires aerial clips. And it have live view and pan and tilt camera control.

Yes, it's dangerous flying over people, I don't fly over people, all the flying over people shot are done by my partner, I have convinced him not to do that.

This is pretty intense. I wish I knew what helicopter you used and how the heck you managed to wirelessly manage panning and tilting...

can you give some ball park figures for rates? I need some of this. I'm on the west coast though, so it'd just be a base line.

Guys, sorry.

I don't visit the site often. We have gyro on Pan, Tilt and continue improving our capability, just months of tuning to make the heli vibe free. Here is a latest demo with Mini HDV. We will be done with a system for HVX200 and 16mm in about 2 month time.

looks cool but i dont like how the horizon is off on most the shots. I would want one with three axis to pan, tilt, roll. that way the roll can keep the horizon level.

its hard to tell how vibration free the footage is with such low resolution. I loved footage. Perhaps for a quick shot rather that for an extended shot or sequence of shots though.

The HVX200 heli is up and ready. It can also carry HVX200, 16mm and modify mini 35mm film cam. It is very smooth and vibe free. Couple of projects are coming up that requires HVX200, finally will be shooting Full HD.

Well, obviously THAT is extremely cool.

With internet resolutions you could easily fix horizon lines and even the slight bit of motion... it wouldn't be hard to turn your footage into what looks like perfect crane shots that are hundreds of feet high... croppin' the box I mean.

You should send a demo to Discovery and any channels like that... they would probably start using your services very soon, depending on what they already have going. I suggest you get serious about figuring a price-structure for shots... you already know this... but that service is pretty valuable. Do some research and find out what other sky-cam guys are getting... then get some demo DVDs out and make some calls asap.

I'm impressed.

Mattin, thanks for the suggestion. I have been in RD for the past year. Now, I am finally focusing more on promotions, since an able to carry HVX200 now. I will let you guys updated with my projects.

You just have to love old San Fran. Here is one of ours. This ones been carrying the HVX200 for almost 3 years now and has been recently updated to carry the Red.

I was on a shoot last week where we lost two RC Copters. One had a 5D, which thankfully crashed on the ground and the camera was saved. The second one is on the bottom of the South Platte River with an HDV camera still strapped on ;-)
