EIGHTEEN SECONDS by Jack, Zac and Mac

Nope. Not as far as I know.

Mac says it's a Guerilla 35 which is now Cinemelk and Jonathan Houser, President & CEO from Cinemek, Inc. has been to the thread to comment. Maybe he didn't read the whole thread, but I'm just going by what Mac has said about the adaptor he owns.
He's referring to what 18 seconds was shot on here ...
Oh sorry Jack. I think you misunderstood. I know Mac uses the G35. When I said "now defunct" I was just making a lame joke about how as soon as it "became Cinemek" it sort of fizzled out and they were never manufactured or sold.

wha? Jonathan posted in this thread?

I loved this film. It was visual poetry. It was inspiring.

About the only thing I didn't love was the length of time on the final look between the two characters (before the car hit). It felt a little too drawn out to me.

Amazing work.

yep, not dead or defunct, just deep in development. We will be selling the G35. No dates promised, but we are rolling into production in our new facility March 1. Feel free to email me if you have any questions, or angry rants. I will try to answer them to the best of my knowledge. Cheers, and good luck on your films.

LoL. I wasn't referring to the lack of banners. Just hadn't any idea where you two came from.

Were you in a Drama Fest movie?

Welcome, either way. Sorry to hijack the thread, guys.

We might have been a couple of slutterflys in a certain film, as some have so affectionately dubbed us.

Wow. Terrific picture, sound AND lighting. This was the Babel of the bunch! Really enjoyed the method of storytelling and the Visuals were just fantastic!

Always look forward to your films.

I just now saw this film for the first time. Wow. I'm really impressed. Personally, I love existential cinema. In small doses, of course. And that's what I adore about the short film format.

I thought the grittiness of the image helped the feeling of dispair, of being cut off from society, of life being unclear. Was the graininess intentional?

The performances were perfect and daring.

yeah the grain was not so much a "lets make this part grainy" as lets focus on the intimacy and getting that feeling and if that means using less light for either feel or moving quickly or to capture a natural feeling then so be it. If that means throwing on the gain switch at +6 so be it. We decided before we set out that that would all be part of the look. The slightly less pretentious answer is that we knew we'd have to move fast and guerilla style and decided to embrace that as part of the aesthetic..

Personally, I love grain. When used appropriate. I often find that I'm adding grain to my films. Not that I accept grainy images natively from the camera (I prefer to dial the grain in myself based on a clean image), but I can fully see how pushing the gain in certain circumstances can be very useful. Bravo on being that brave.

It's funny. If you shoot on film and ask them to push it a couple of stops in developing then you get grain and it's just part of the look, like grains or knots in a nice piece of wood furniture. But if you get grain in DV it's deffect of the medium vs. an organic part of it. I guess film is a chemical process and we expectd digital processes to do anything and everything RIGHT NOW.

I'm not sure I should be saying this, but

Look at screens/vids from Brandon's films. They have alot of grain and are stylish as ever.

I think that people are so used to saying "Oh let's stay away from grain, because it's DV" because they know what the potential is (to look like crap). Taking the risk to get that overall feeling is what you're saying Jack... I think that's a foreign concept to some people.

I concure ("doctor do you concure") on the use of grain when it fits the mood. You will see grain a plenty if we do our SpyFest idea.
