Edius 5 or Edius Neo 2 Booster 24p pulldown removal

Has anyone found any disadvantage or problems using TMPGEnc 4 Xpress for converting the GH1 1080 MTS clips to 24p?

Good news, pulldown is no longer an issue using Edius since the Panasonic GH1 firmware hack by Tester13 can now remove the 60i wrapper from the 1080 24p video shot by the GH1.

Tested in Edius Neo Booster 2.5.

Yes it's good news for all editors if you apply the tester13 firmware hack. All editors can handle progressive frames without pulldown, including Windows Live Movie Maker.

I doubt it has been fixed since they were putting the blame on Panasonic and no other editing software does it correctly. I'm using Edius 5.5 but have been shooting Native 1080 24P or 720 60P to get around the problem. I assume with the GH2 that this will no longer be an issue with any editing software.

Edius is the best I have found as well... unfortunately the native hack is not where it is at. I don't know how you are not getting errors with it checked?

I don't know either but I'm not and it's working so I am not going to anger the gods by messing with it. People talk about blank and missing and duplicate frames and freezing and I get none of that.

I get an OCCASIONAL lock up maybe once in 1000 takes.

Huh, well that's good! I have been on my own settings and have never gotten an error, but that was only after I removed the 24p check.

Edius 6 baby.. 24p native hacked gh1.3 that's where it's at... butter....

Blackout,

Yes, if I had fast memory cards, I would probably go the 24p Native hack also. But, even if I do that, I still need to edit my older files. I bought my GH1 before the hack and have a lot of footage that I would like to do pulldown removal on. I don't like the idea of transcoding. Would rather edit on native files. That is why I have been looking at buying Edius.

Just wish they would add a check box option to tell it to do the pulldown removal if it can't detect that automatically from the GH1 files. How hard is that to implement in otherwise really good software? Seems like a no-brainer and I don't understand why the engineers don't see it. Was hoping someone that has Edius 6 could repeat the tests that you, Cavemandude, and noirist did so we would know if it is the same or improved.

Thanks!

As far as I can see.... no, it still doesn't understand the 60i wrapped gh1 files and screws them up. It LOVES the 24p native files. Your only other option is to just use cineform for your old stuff and remove the pulldown with that.

Haven't messed with that... again the 24p native seems to work really well in edius 6.... so I would never go back to 60i wrapped files.

Edius does do the pulldown but there is still an edge artifact that is the problem. All the other video editing software produces the same edge artifact so it can't be that easy to fix.
