Isn't XD-Cam, the 2/3rd inch sized sensor line? That would be less than ideal obviously.
I am kind of thinking to maybe after Fs700 go Red instead? I sounds silly, but when you'll get broadcast module you can get smaller file sizes, more streamlined workflow. I know all the caveats but at least they tend to keep value much, much longer.good ol' times when you bought a Digibeta for the next five years. Or a Sinar 8x10 for your lifetime

The (now removed it seems) article in chinese said that it has "the same sensor size as F55". So it's a Super35 sensor.
Same sensor size doesn't mean it has global shutter but let's wait and see...
First impression: Damn that thing is ugly
Doesn't quite seem like a FS700 mkII but rather something new and more of an URSA killer than a C100 killer (as some rumour had it to be).
I was hoping for something a bit more streamlined,

I think we will go back to the 'five year camera' - simply 4k, 10+bits and HFR is pretty good..
I don't think so. The industry will create new features to outrival their competitors.
Good AF and good live wifi streaming might appeal to clients, not res?
"This has been clearly a period of change which is a reason Ive cobbled along with the FS100 and used F3, because the 10kplus cameras seemed too much of a risk"
You're smart. There's still nothing wrong with any of those cameras. Maybe I'm not getting the right calls but so far in 2014 I only got 2 calls for 4k. Can't even talk anyone into it. Maybe 2015 will be different. But I gotta say if you're looking for a camera with some longevity and you're going to spend the money, go Red. Best bang for the buck if you're holding on to equipment longer than 2 years. I think that's where I might be heading.
no matter what, there will be new features ;-)
(I have been asked by a client to switch from Canon to Nikon because of 36MP of a D800. I know that it's not necessary, you know that too - but obviously my client does not. It's risky to start this discussion because your good reasons might be seen as flimsy excuses and who wants a supplier with excuses? Congrats for your reasonable clients. Seriously!)

RED?
The only camera worthy of a long term perspective is the Alexa.
RED?
No way. They don't care about making huge price drops and there are so many out there that in many markets you can rent them for a pittance with an owner operator. The only camera worthy of a long term perspective is the Alexa. But of course you have got to poney up for that.
I won't be upgrading until the 4K Alexa comes out - and then I'll look into finance options (although lenses might be a worry - might have to pony up for a set of mini-S4s too!) because that will, without a doubt, pay for itself in a year and last another 4. Word on the street is 4K Alexa is 2 years away.

No one else is commenting on the venting port? clearly this camera will be fan cooled...that's somewhat a worry (for narrative work) BUT if could mean better/longer HFR bursts.
XQD are pricey. Not RED pricey, but more expensive per GB than BM/CD SSDs.
If it is indeed the same sensor as the F55 and I can output RAW to the Odyssey 7Q, I will be selling my FS700 quickly! (once fan noise and media is confirmed)
